As far as I can see it doesn't.

The VAT back was extended to purchases up to 6 June 2012 for the notebooks.

For other products it was purchases up to 7 May 2012.

Terms and Conditions

Anyone have a link stating it's 6 June for SSDs?

Amendment to the Terms and Conditions made the 2nd of May 2012.

The Samsung VAT Cashback promotion is valid on the purchase of a brand new (i.e. not second hand or refurbished) qualifying product(s) from a qualifying retailer by an end-user during the promotional period. In addition to the points set out below you are eligible to claim your VAT back if you purchase one of the qualifying Notebook products between 28th March 2012 (00.01 on the 28/03/12) to 6th June 2012 (23.59 on the 06/06/2012) from any retailer. The last date of accepted claim is 23.59 on the 06/07/12, all claims received after this date will be marked invalid. For the additional products in the promotion (Printers, Displays and SSDs) the promotional period is 28th March 2012 (00.01 on the 28/03/12) to 7th May 2012 (23.59 on the 07/05/12). The last date of accepted claim is 23.59 on the 07/06/12, all claims received after this date will be marked invalid.

Yea thats what I read too. either way vat promo or not. im sitll happy i got the £140 830 256gb

only thing that slightly ticks me is my 103424k - ok in AS ssd but seeing its green and ok i hoping it will be fine

One SSd up and running.

The second one is being recognised in the BIOS screen and device manager, but not in my computer, anything i can try?

I've tried latest drivers for it (according to windows) and ive tried disabling then reenabling it, any suggestions? :(

I knew i'd forgotten that - thanks guys :)

I kept searching for disk management, then thought i'd just imagined the last time i'd done it

You can... maybe if you tell us what you're trying to do and how you're trying to do it?

Not trying to do anything but reading this thread and others people are instrucing how to load windows and the general advice seems to be dissconnect other drives and dont assign a drive along with delete any partitions

I dont own this drive but am thinking of upgrading to a a much larger SSD and am somewhat puzzled as to why you cannot have a partition while loading windows etc

if you read back in the various samsung ssd threads this subject keeps popping up and I just wondered why??

if I buy a large SSD drive to be used as a boot drive I want to put a partition on it and I was under the impression that the way to do it was at the preparing the hard drive before installing windows then install to the drive of choice

I am considering this samsung drive but tweaktown's review is not great and has rather put me off this drive

Can some one tell me why you cannot have a partition on these SSd drives ??

They're just like any other drive in that sense - you can have as many as windows will recognise ;)

But in reality - there's absolutely no reason to partition the drives - why are you doing it?

Partitioning used to be useful for reserving certain sections of a spinning platter, so you could get highest speed from your O/S etc... but with SSDs, no point at all.

You don't have to... I re-installed windows with 5 other drives connected to my system - just make sure the boot order is correct in the bios (ie, system drive first) and you won't have trouble.

You can, just like any other drive. But like I've mentioned above, there is no reason to partition an SSD.

Don't waste your time with them, Tweaktown should be ignored, for all reviews - they are childish and skew their results depending on who they favour at the time they're writing... very bad practices go on over there.

All the other reviewers disagree with tweaktown... here's just one:

Plus, my experience so far with the drive is counter to TT's review.

I agree with crinkleshoes this drive is great and its th best bang for your buck, looks excellent,

Ive used Ocz vertex and ibis, corsair force three and intel and this is the best drive yet in my opinion but not the fastest oviously
