Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

There's a new OTA firmware update available. I know it's available for German sourced phones, not sure about other regions yet.

I've not updated yet, but others on XDA have reported further performance increases and a bunch of other tweaks, including a new torch widget and one handed keyboard mode.

After spending half the evening reading xda I've just flashed the update. Too early to comment on improvements but I can give instructions on how to do it tomorrow if wanted.

I already flashed mine with mobile odin the day after I made that post :)

I can't say I've noticed much difference, unlocking the device feels snappier but everything else was already smooth for me in KK9. Other people seem to have noticed a bigger difference though.

I updated my note from KK5 to KL8 today.

OMG this has propelled my device to Epicness!!

It is so quick now, the speed was the only thing annoying me about the device, not now.

really !!!!!

whats so good about it over an iphone 4 4S....just interested as would love to jump back to android but not able to find the handset to do it justice...

thanks

It isn't really comparable, it's huge and the iPhone is fairly small.

Obviously it's going to be better suited to things such as browsing and so forth.

yes I realise that...would save getting a tablet though ;)
any idea what battery life is like in real world use....

It's good enough, but nothing special. If you use it a lot you'll be charging it daily, just like most devices.

Don't be expecting iPad-esque battery life.

It is an amazing device. Best phone i have ever had.

This, although I went from an iP4 to an S2, and then to the Note. All 3 are portable enough to be carried around in your pocket on a daily basis therefore all 3 are comparable imo.

I honestly feel like I don't need a laptop or tablet with the Note. The problem though, is once you have a Note you will find it very difficult to go back to a smaller screen in future. The S3 will no doubt be brilliant, but I don't know if it will be enough to tempt me away from this monster. The iP5 is out of the question for me, I don't think I can go back to an Apple device. I will quietly wait for the Note 2. :D

What is the S Pen like to use?

Can you use it instead of your finger for more precision while browsing, highlighting links, clicking on links, typing on keyboard?

I have seen the phone in two cpw stores, but each store said S Pen had been stolen so could not try it out.

Sorry pen is great for browsing etc and very nice for writing. The only problem is a bit of a delay when writing.

Really like the look of this, "need" to get a new phone for my business, tempted to transfer my Blackberry contract to my business to use for work and buy one of these for myself!
