Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

So looking to buy it sim free but have a question hoping somebody can answer. If i buy this from the rainforest in germany, it says 411 or so at the moment. But its listed as a blue, and when i look at the images it does indeed seem to be blue? I was previously under the impression that the blue one was actually just black to look at. I want a black note not a blue one so can anybody clarify this?

The front bezel is black, the back cover is very very very close to black. In rgb terms it's probably about 0 0 3

Does the phone from .de still have a uk plug in the package or just the euro one?

Just euro, you can still charge through USB though.

My experience with .de was very smooth, I wouldn't hesitate to order from there. The handset arrived in under a week

Got one of these today, initial impressions its absolutely brilliant, only downsides I've noticed is that the battery cover is a bit flimsy plasticy (coming from the Xperia X1 that has a metal backplate) and theres a little bit of graininess in areas of white probably due to the pentile display.

The battery cover being flimsy is really irrelevant for three reasons -

- It contributes to the slim design

- It's super flexible and can be bent in half

- It's rock solid when actually on the device, you really wouldn't be able to tell how thick it was or wasn't when it's fitted

Unless of course you mean the overall plastic feel of the phone, in which case it's a fair point.

Nah with the cover on the device feels fairly solid. But taking it off it felt really flimsy and I was worried I'd break it - I certainly wouldn't want to see if it can actually be bent in half - if its as flimsy as it feels it would be an issue.

Watch from about 50 seconds in -

Ooof I think I'll take their word for it.

Battery life seems to have increased dramatically with the 2nd charge, went all day at work with moderate useage and still had 92% battery left - compared to quickly dropping down to under 70% before over the same time period with similiar useage but with wifi enabled.

EDIT: Then I enabled wifi and spent just over an hour watching iplayer on it and it was down to 15% by morning - wifi seems a big battery killer on it - more so than any other smartphone I've tried and also doesn't seem to get as good signal on wifi as other smartphones I have here so its probably using more juice boosting wifi reception.

I have wifi set to never turn off and the phone only loses 1% every 2 or so hours when idle. Right now wifi has been on for 20.5 hours since last charge and battery is at 80%. That's with 1.5hr of screen on usage.

I would expect that playing flash videos for over an hour had a lot more impact on your battery than the wifi did.

Yeah playing video was draining the battery but having wifi enabled seems to run it down pretty fast too - however it might be due to spotify also (was idle in the background) which I'm trying to test to see if its the problem atm - on windows mobile spotify absolutely canes the battery even when idle (infact even after you totally close the app :( ) so could be due to this rather than wifi.

You wont get import charges due to .de being Germany and within the EU.

Lots of people have reported there .de order arriving very quickly, but seems to be out of stock directly from them so you risk 3rd party sellers with low feed back or are 60 euro more.

Added this phone to the short list along with the Galaxy Nexus and Iphone 4S. Looks a stunning phone and I do like the size of the screen. However, how are you guys finding it out and about and general use? Will it actually fit in your pocket and is it usably for making calls? Obviously its big but just trying to guage it's day to day use.

Wife thinks I would look a numpty with it. :D

With regard to modding do you know if there is an active community? Had a quick look on XDA and there did seem to be some ROMS. I will be coming from the original Desire and I have really enjoyed all the custom ROMS. The modding community have worked wonders and really supported the Desire.

My only complaint for general out/about useage - its not the easiest to keep a firm grip on if your trying to do other stuff too - and theres no where to attach a cord to prevent yourself from dropping it totally in that kinda scenario.

Don't personally have any problems making calls on it but I have fairly long fingers - if you have woman sized hands might be more of an issue - likewise fits in my pocket fine but I have average man sized trousers with reasonable sized pockets.

I don't find it that big after awhile but definitely feel the advantages over 2-4" screens.

A lot's made of the size... it's big but it fits fine in non-skinny jeans without any issues. It is a bit more tricky to take out your pocket than smaller phones as you'd expect.

Its okay making calls with - call quality is great. It doesn't look ridiculous

It fits in all my pockets with no problem and I have a case on mine. Once you get use to the size you will not look back, remember you are buying this for yourself to use day in day out so you want the best, is what other people think that important to you? Saying that though, I have never seen so many people as impressed with a phone as they are with this once they see it properly, two friends sold their S2 and bought this after seeing mine, and a few other people I know have this at the top of their next phone list. It is quite simply the best all in one device out there at the moment imo, it does everything very well.

When I use an iP4/4S now, it feels and looks absolutely tiny! The Nexus looks nice, it has the best design and is a good overall size but they made way too many compromises on it for me to consider it.
