Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

I think i'd like to get a 'hands on' the note before buying it, I'm really interested in it right now. If it is just a larger S2 then it would be quite the device.

I take it it eats up MKV and all the rest, just like the S2 and unlike the HTC one X?

My One X has played everything I've tried to play on it so far (only using the stock player, too). Mkv's etc.

With some tweaking no, but initially when I moved over from the S2 and first started using the Note, I definitely found it laggier then the S2.

Cool - will mostly likely be getting a Note for the mrs over the next couple of days.

Anyone know how easy it is to unlock to all networks?

MKV is just a container though, it tells us nothing about the codecs you were using. Are there reported issues then? I didn't try any films on my One X actually - I should have done I guess as this is what made me ditch my Tegra 2 Transformer, it wouldn't play most of my video collection (720p x264/AC3 inside an mkv for example). I imagine the One X should have no problem with that combination though.

Can you please expand, what tweaks you implemented?
Considering buying one. Once Galazy S3 Specs are announced.
But found the Demo models (Note) quite sluggish even after closing all Apps + Clearing Memory..
No point upgrading too the Note if it lags all day, while been used.

There are no issues that I'm aware of and GSMArena were able to play the files they tried. The ones currently on mine are 720p x264.

I have a 1080p x264 DTS 1510kbit/s I could try as well, I wonder if it would struggle there.

Getting my Galaxy Note tonight. Can't wait. It will be my first ever sim free phone. It's so nice to be able to break away from bloody stupidly long contracts.

I've never even had the Galaxy Note in my hand. But I have massive hands so I can't see me freaking out at the size to be honest!

Roll on 6pm onwards!!

It pretty much is just a larger S2 with a much higher res screen. The S-Pen is just a bonus for certain things. The only thing I didn't really like about the S2 was the screen, seeing as I came from an iP4 before that. I found the iP4 screen much sharper and clearer for text, and I missed that. The Note was exactly what I was looking for.

Well I rooted and installed titanium backup and removed loads of bloatware and stuff I would never use, that was the main thing I did. There are loads of custom roms available although I haven't felt the need to change, I am quite happy on the stock rom with Go Launcher for now. ICS should be available soon for the Note, but we've been saying that for awhile now...

The One X should play all high profile h.264'S without issue - you may need a 3rd party player like bslite player - that's all. I know it works for you robbo.

ICS should be a great update.

I'd like too see the how the GB rom fairs so I can compare it to ICS.

I got mine on a cheap o2 contract with the intention of putting a Giffgaff sim in, cos they do unltd data for £10 and I knew GG went into o2 phones but it comes unlocked even though on contract to o2, everyone I've seen mention it on a forum says it came unlocked for them, allegedly if it is locked the s2 unlock app unlocks the Note too.

Can someone point me to a good root and install CWM guide?

Also what ROMs are you all running? I think I'll be steering clear of ICS based ROMs until the official has been released.

Where did you get your Note from?

just to be clear thep02 - direct from O2 and you say your one was unlocked?

Yes, I checked it the other day by typing a code I saw on xdadev into the key pad and it gave me various phone stats one of which was its unlocked status, the only actual sims I've tried are the o2 and GG though, however lots of folk gave thanks for the code on xda, no doubt newbs like myself.

I also got a phone secrets app which claimed the Note was unlocked.
