Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

Yeah, but people wanted something a bit more, not the minimum required for Samsung to pass it off as a successor. Mainly a more interesting and intelligent design for the most part.

It's still a brilliant device and is top notch without a doubt, but they haven't raised the bar.

Agreed, don't get me wrong if I had to buy a phone this month it would defo be the S3, I just don't feel I need to upgrade from a Note that's only 5 months old, I had plans to sell the Note and buy the S3 if it was good enough as is at the mo I wait for the Hayabusa or Note 2.

Yeah, as you've no doubt spotted my post in the S3 thread, I'd be a little bit torn if I had to pick between them now.

Nothing on the S3 is compelling me to want to switch from the X at the moment at least.

i dont even feel like switching from s2.. but to a note maybe.. :) i want a HD screen soooo much :( ill have a play with it at CPW once its out

The other thing the Note has in its favour is the stylus. Games like Draw Something have all of a sudden become massively popular.

yeah thats one thing i like about it.. :o its just a great device over all.. i don't know anyone that owns one to have a proper feel of it in my hand :/ the CPW test ones are locked in some massive cradles or w/e you wanna call them and there's no way to have a feel of the phone in your hands :(

Got a Note yesterday and have to say as a phone it is rubbish. It is just too big to use in one hand and especially to text with.

As a tool for media consumption etc it is great. So far I am very happy with it but I am keeping my Galaxy Nexus as my main phone when out and about.

I think early on in the design process Samsung abandoned the female and small hand market.

I would have to agree with you but by god would have to be a giant to use one easily. I am 6'2" and not exactly puny. I would **** myself if i met a bloke who uses one with one hand !

Yeah but a man will buy it on specs alone, I can't use it one handed, I've tried but that's a compromise I'll make for a sublime internet, gaming or reading experience.

Was thinking about the Note 2 and my wish list would be:

2GHz Dual Core A15
2Gb Ram
12MPixel Camera
32Gb Storage + Micro SD
Amoled Plus Screen, same res is fine
Bit thinner and sturdier
More responsive stylus

After the S3 reveal I'm not gona get into that game.

I'd seriously consider the Note 2 on release.
But too speculate on specs...

The Note, almost completely copys the Galazy S2 Specs.
So it's safe to assume the Note 2 will copy the S3 specification.

I'd love to see a 5.7" Super +AMOLED (1600x1200)
1.6Ghz Quad Core
2GB Ram
32Gb Flash + SD Slot.

4:3 aspect ratio - nah!

Oops bad calculations.
The Note 1280x800 Roughly 3x2
So Note 2 (1500x1000) 3x2

An as far as screen size goes.
The S3 got .5" increase over the S2.
Would the Note not get a similar increase.
An I agree the Note is huge (why i love it) but the Note clearly selling too a niche market. This niche market will only want bigger..

All speculation of course..

they could possibly squeeze 5.4'' or 5.5'' into the same size shell as the current Note but I wouldn't want to see it get any bigger. The S3 specs with a slightly higher clocked cpu would be expected for the Note 2, and that'd do for me.
