Samsung Galaxy Note: 5.3", 1200x800 SuperAMOLED, S-PEN stylus, 2500mAh attery... *phew*

Argh battery life is appalling with ICS! is there a way to get back to the previous firmware?

Thats what I thought last week but after a few days the battery seems to be better. Ended up plugging in the charger after 14 hours on battery a few days ago and still had 73 percent left.

Hey guys just done the update and now i have no mobile internet. It is activated to. There is something i did wrong tho. After the update it gave me a list of service providers and if you are on contract or payg, well i chose payg voda when important on contract. Could this be the issue?

try going to settings > mobile data > access point names > reset to default

Thanks mate just reset it and then selected it so that it had the green spot lit up next to it, which i think was the problem but wouldn't have known without your advice. Restarted the phone and all is good. Cheers

Is there a music player app that will let you change track even when the phone is locked? I could do it on my HTC desire and find it annoying when I'm in my car trying to unlock the phone, I just want to be able to hit the forward track button.

My battery life is horrendous on ICS! I'm going to have to root and try some custom ROMs and kernels to see if I can solve this. Battery went down by about 10% in an hour earlier without even being used!

It's worth trying a factory reset to resolve the battery issues. (charge to 100% first, and i think don't do it if phone has previously been rooted or run earlier ICS ROMS or it might become an expensive paperweight - otherwise perfectly safe and only takes a few mins).

Battery life for me was awful after ICS update, it was struggling to last 8 hours, and that was just in standby. Since the reset it's like a different phone, will easily go 2+ days (currently on 24 hours/81%).

Ordered a note for collection next Friday. Changing from an iPhone 4s. I am a little worried after reading the posts on here. Seems a little complicated and problematic, should I be concerned or will it be as simple as the iPhones?

Mate it's a fantastic phone, if you've got over the size issue there are no other issues worth speaking of.

Check out Samsung apps and Samsung Hub there are £120 worth of freebies.

Enjoy your superior browsing and media experience.:D:D:cool:

Batterylife on ICS seems okay to me:

I think that offer ended last week of April, I got it but you could only use them for renting movies rather than purchasing them. So in the space of a month from signing up to the free stuff to it expiring (got it january but only found out early april), I would have had to have rented two movies a night ffs!

I'd never get that at the moment.

I'm on:

Baseband N7000XXLPT
Build IML74K.XXLPY

This was the ICS rom that was released I think in Germany as soon as it came out for the Note. I think I need to update it today to the latest version.

Can someone please link me to the very latest official ICS rom?

Can I update it through mobile Odin, without risk of bricking the phone? I've heard about the issue of Notes getting bricked but am not entirely sure what it relates too, it's never really concerned me since I don't often change roms.

Can I keep the root?

Thanks.

Try this iirc it's the official ICS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eNTWzz4RMU

Again iirc the first German kernels are the ones with brick risk the vid above has links to stable Franco.

Thanks, I'm already rooted though, I just need the latest official rom to download. I'm hoping if I update to that, it may improve battery life.

Also, I think when I last updated via mobile odin, I had an option called ever root ticked and it kept my root.

I ran the 'gotbrickbug' apk which confirmed mine is one of the affected Notes, so any tips to ensure I don't brick it is much appreciated. :p

Ok I am downloading the following file which I assume is the latest official UK ICS rom:

N7000XXLQ2-------4.0.3-----------2012 May-----------N7000XEULP4-----United Kingdom / Ireland

Ah, those questions are way above my pay scale, in fact my ocuk pay scale is so low some of the volunteers get a higher expenses claim than my pay scale, soz.
