Can you use a USB dac with the Galaxy Note ICS ?
No, I don't think so. See: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/ice-cream-sandwich/33756-enable-usb-audio.html and http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24614 for details and vote for the topic to try and get google to integrate the USB audio driver into the stock ICS kernel so we don't have to rely on Samsung or whoever to implement it. Having said that, the issue has been within the top 10 issues for google's android programmers to look at for some time now, yet sadly they don't seem to have done anything about it...
If only Samsung had decided to use the nice Wolfson DAC rather than skimp and use the Yamaha one!

Forget Samsung and Google .... surely there's someone out there who has compiled this into a custom kernel.
EDIT: If I root and compile the module offline maybe I could see if I can insmod it ?

I am also having battery issues with my Note since upgrading to ICS.
Sometimes it will last a day, and others it will drain so fast I can watch the battery percentage count down!
I have downloaded CPU Spy and Better Battery Stats (thanks for the links), but am a little confused by the results.
On CPU Spy, while I am not using the phone, it seems to sit at 200MHz and doesn't Deep Sleep at all?
I was hoping to find out why, but I can't make head or tails out of what Better Battery Stats says?
Can anyone help me please?

Last night my phone was mainly on 200mhz and hardly went into deep sleep either. I know exactly what you mean, sometimes it lasts a day and at other times it feels like you can literally see it counting down. I will download the battery stats app later and see if I can make any sense of it.

What are partial and kernel wakelocks ?
don't really know fully - just know they are things that stop the cpu from deep sleep.
Partial wakelocks are normally the services running which you can "sometimes" reduce or turn off. But Kernel wakelocks you normally can't do anything about as they are cause by the kernel, apart from flashing a new kernel.
I disagree - I had a kernel wakelock that said 'fuel-alerted' - which kept my phone awake - had to do a battery pull to get rid of it.

My Note is coming tomorrow and its running GB, having read some of the above is it worth risking the ICS update or should I just say on GB until a resolution is found?

I would still update personally as I found GB to be a bit laggy, but try it first and see how you find it. ICS is much smoother for me and it is especially noticeable in the stock browser.

I had that 'fuel alerted' one too - something to do with taking the phone off charger with the screen still on - but I don't fully buy that.
Anyway, to resolve it - shut down the phone - take the battery out - wait a few minutes - reboot - should now be sorted - keep any eye on it with both of those apps and I believe it should be fine now - should deep sleep.
