Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

From my limited experience with Kies (not my primary handset sorry) it just overwrites the OS data and keeps installed apps as long as you do the official upgrade path. The default directory for appdata is the internal card and isn't wiped during Kies upgrades.

I offer no warranty on this claim, if kies wipes the lot then the next time you go into market you'll be prompted to download everything again (DO IT - IT WILL FORGET NEXT TIME YOU OPEN MARKET), gameloft have a CS dept who will re-send you the APKs if needed. A lot of people recommend wiping between major versions of Android but I'd probably only do so if I encountered a lot of force-closes.

I've never had issues with crazy battery drain on MIUI or CM7. I don't know if maybe certain apps can trigger it or something, but if you follow the instructions I posted above exactly, it ought to work as it always has for me.

Battery seems to be a lot better, finally went to 10% at around 3am, and i unplugged it today at 10am so almost 24 hours, including wifi/3g always on. Music, 1-2 hours gaming, 2 emails accounts, Lots of phone calls, whatsapp and so on so seems to be as good as stock rom more or less for me now.

Can anyone help, seem to be eating through memory, just flashed to a jvh tom and it's stock gb no additional apps installed and yet it's always sitting at 200mb plus. Can get it down to 160 ish with task manager but soon shoots up again. Anyone any ideas?

Just wanted to let you guys know, I tried a lot of new roms out there, by far the best rom i found was Milky rom. In general stock JVR is very fast but most of the roms were just slow. However on milky its almost as fast as miui/cm7.

I gave up on Galnet's MIUI as it started to become bloated and often their 'fixes' cause more problems as well it seems. Also they claim to fix battery life, signal issues and 720p recording on what seems like every release, yet it's never fixed!

I'm now using MIUIandroid.com stock MIUI 1.8.26 and it's super. Fast and stable, plus there are loads of themes and icons out there now that mean you can customise however much you like. My only gripe that seems to be a new problem is that the colour is slightly yellow when the brightness is turned right down or when using screen filter. I suspect a custom kernel will fix it, but I use auto brightness most of the time and it looks great.

I found the same problems, the yellow thing I only noticed when im texting at night in the dark. Gonna give CM7 a try and see how it is then go back to some MIUI rom out there xD.

So.... Just took my phone out of my pocket and tried to use it.

Nothing happens.

Removed the battery, put it back in and tried to turn it on.

Nothing happens.

I can't try plugging it in the wall right now because I'm at work and don't have my charger with me, but it had a good amount of charge in it when I was using it earlier this morning.

Any ideas?

edit: I'm using the standard phone, running 2.2 updated through kies

If you get a sleep of death (or whatever you want to call it) you can try holding down the power button until you see the phone boot. That has always worked for me.

Does anyone have a Samsung Galaxy S (the first) and run Darkysrom 9.5 or greater and use Viber?
Trying to sell a mobile and I have wiped the phone clean and someone wants to know if Viber works on it as supposedly it doesn't on some roms.

Anybody on Orange with a Galaxy S? I had a clock/calender widget that came as standard and for some reason I seem to have deleted it by accident while walking around with my hand in my pocket over my phone. Felt a few vibrations and my screen is now blank apart from the icons at the bottom of the screen on the first page. Anybody know how to get this back as it was quite handy :-)

Hold down on the desktop and choose widget, should be in the list.
