Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

bloody hell i paid full price, only had it 2 days may be i should return it under the distance selling act and buy the cheaper option :(

forget what you paid for it you will just wind yourself up thinking about it, look at it this way if your happy with the one you have but returned it to buy a cheaper one then what if the new one had a single stuck pixel, I know for the sake of £70 Im happy with the pixel perfect one I have

soooooo whats the verdict on the ghosting then... I play mostly racing games so its a very important thing for me. Didn't notice any on the LG. Was it just because of the wrong settings then?

i think its just the settings, ive played a fair amount of counter strike go and not noticed any ghosting, response and input lag seem fine also

Standard is the way to go with Fastest the worst. Standard produces none to my eye, Faster produces some and Fastest is pretty horrible.

I can't really understand the utility of having a response time setting on this unit. Any ideas anybody?

Well, it was down to either this or the Dell U3415W and I've decided against that for now due to backlight bleed concerns and availability issues so that's the Samsung ordered! Seemed like too good a deal to ignore given it's reduced at OCUK this week to not much more than the Dell I had on order previously.

Probably wont be here until Monday but I'll let you guys know my thoughts once it arrives!

Update: Seeing as it's on offer this week at OCUK, and has generally been getting favourable reviews, I've decided to order the Samsung 34". Will post my thoughts once it arrives next week.

Well done!

will be ordering the samsung tomorrow for saturday delivery i reckon

Slighty frustrated with the delivery wait actually as being based in Scotland DPD seem to make you wait 2 business days. No option for weekend delivery though I'm fairly sure I've seen DPD vans going about at weekends up here!

I guess it doesn't really matter but it would have been nice to have it to play with over the weekend :D

Its either this or the Philips BDM4065UC for me. The price on the Philips puts this to shame really but its most likely too big for me.
I only just managed to fit the 34 inch LG on my desk so the Samsung is the only real option.
Also has anyone tried to overclock there Samsung to maybe 75hz?

I thought about the Philips 40" as it sounds like a great panel but to me a 40" monitor is too large for sitting in front of at a desk. The width is fine at 90cm, and not much wider than the 80cm of a 34" ultrawide, but the height of a 40" 16:9 at over half a metre (60cm) is simply too tall to comfortably work in front of IMO!

YMMV though..

i had the philips on pre order but had second thoughts on powering 4k and i think 40" would be a bit ridiculous on my desk, anyways im happy with the sammy

Well after returning my lg curved monitors over a month ago, i felt like it would be silly buying a new monitor now over the concern of back light bleed but obviously this Samsung is the front runner and sure to make me happy for years to come but wouldn't it be wise to wait for a freesync 21:9 to become available since that has been my initial intention since returning my lg 34uc87.

im aware of the disappointing resolution of the new lg 21:9 freesync that will be coming out but, how long will it be before a 3440 x 1440 ultrawide curved or not freesync monitor 60hz or more will become available on the market, not just announced but actually become available for purchase.

1 year ? maybe 2 years ?

OCUK are shipping mine today, Will be here for Monday, Just in time to get tested then back in the box as I'm decorating the place :D

What kind of graphics cards are people using to pump out this resolution when gaming? I have a 290 ref and I'm tempted by one of these monitors to split between pc gaming and my Xbox one / movies. Currently I game on ultra settings at 24inch 1080p (benq 120hz monitor).

If I buy one of these, I would have thought I would need to dump £3-400 on a new graphics card?

im using a 290 myself and its holding up very well, applying high levels of aa is the killer and not really need anyway imo. so far the only game that I dropped from ultra to high settings is bf4 but can still made to look great with a bit of tweaking in the game options
