Samsung LS34E790C - Curved 34" 21:9 super-wide

well ive played with every setting to try and get my games to look as good as the desktop and app but failed with bf 4 being the worst. ive now switched to hdmi and found the picture quality much better as sharper and more vibrant.

I could have a driver problem as ive gone from amd to NVidia and back to amd or even a displayport problem with the graphics card but with the hdmi cable I have not touched any settings apart from the brightness.
I also tried gaming mode and with dp the picture looked washed out but with hdmi it actually enhanced it making it more defined.
the downside it im running 50hz and not 60hz but I will stick with hdmi for now until I
do a fresh windows install.

not sure if the monitor supports hdmi 2.0 or there will be a firmware update for it as I expect my next gpu to have hdmi 2.0

The monitor uses HDMI 1.4, but I managed to run this at 60Hz with a custom resolution no problems. DP 1.2's image quality on my system is identical, however. I tested this on an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 and AMD Radeon R9 270X. So there seems to be a problem with your setup somewhere. What GPU are you using?

I have a amd 290 but I bought it second hand and it was used for mining so its had a hard life, theres something wrong im sure because when I was playing bf4 there was an explosion when a grenade went off and for a split second the screen image and colour improved so it could be just a driver problem

Got my monitor coming back tomorrow and im going to reject it. Dead pixels and the scuff mark behind the screen. They decided it was within limits and just decided to send it straight back to me lol now im just returning it under DSR but its silly really as all ill do it order the same monitor again but now im going to have to pay full price and not the sale price so im extremely annoyed with OCUK for that. They really should call you first before just sending it back to you.
Id order from somewhere else just to show my annoyance but as far as I know there isn't anywhere cheaper. Am I being picky regarding like 2 dead pixels and scuff mark behind the screen? I don't feel like I am purely because of the price of these monitors.

You're not, exercise those rights otherwise manufacturers will never learn.

Why oh why could there not be a freesync IPS/VA 34" 1440 out now?! :(

I think I am just going to go ahead and get this Samsung (awaiting on PCM2's review first though) as I could be waiting for at least another year till free/g sync UW screens arrive... (that isn't by ACER)

There's always something better round the corner Nexus :) The sheer size and immersion of these widescreens is what impresses the most - having framesync technology is the icing on the top!

@PCM2: I've read some people are getting weird readings with their Spyder4's, for instance this guy on HardOCP: "Can you check what contrast ratio you are getting with this monitor at 100% brightness using the Spyder 4? Mine is telling me its 800:1 (black level .41, brightness 325) which doesn't seem right so I was wondering if the Spyder cant read this monitor properly. "

Does the subtle curve let in light to the sensor and fluff the readings?

Possibly, but you should really make such readings in a dark room. The Spyder4 is extremely inaccurate for contrast readings as it can't read low luminances properly at all. Which is why I don't use it for that.

Yeah its silly lol. This thread has become pretty quiet. No others buying these? Im still waiting to see any reviews on this too. I decided to order a new one today as im bored waiting for my refund on my second one and have no monitor. This third one better be good lol.
