Samsung NC10

Well my NC10 is sold in MM! I'm just doing some spring cleaning for the new owner :)

Now to keep an eye on netbook advances so I can pick up an ultra slim one with just as awesome battery life but with 1280x800 screen and be HD Flash playback capable.

So long old friend :O

Thank you :D

Just been playing the first Halo on mine, it lagged a lot at first when I was in a big firefight, but upping the graphics memory to 216mb and turning all the settings either to the lowest setting or off made it a lot better (played at 800x600 instead of 640x480 though).

Does anyone else have a problem with the bluetooth software preventing theirs from going on standby if they shut the lid? mine does it all the time and you have to shut down, which is great when I'm only nipping to someones house round the corner.

hi for those who have gotten hd video to work specifically 720p .mkv stuff how?

on attempting to play some the frame rates cant keep up but its not maxing the cpu, it sits about 80%. im sorry if ive missed this info somewhere in this thread already but i cant find it, am totally lost

I use DIVX7 H264 decoder and have had no problems with 720P HD movies (encoded in x264).

I play back in MPC btw. The CPU usage is around 60%.

Only had a problem with choppy FlashHD/HQ files as they tax the CPU quite a bit. 1080P x264 is also too much!

right, well playback in the divx player works, a bit choppy but the sound is rubbish on it keeps breaking up. cpu sits at more or less 100% ish

tried using the divx filers on MPC but i guess im doing something wrong becasue it still doesnt work any better than before. mpc only goes to about 50% cpu useage. its driving me nuts but how do i force MPC to use the divx filters and have it eat as much cpu as it needs???? feeling like an idiot

I don't use internal video filters in MPC, I never liked them, I use external codecs for everything pretty much, not codec packs either :) - only the AC3 and DTS audio decoder filters are used in MPC.

DivX for divx/xvid/x264
FFDShow for H263 videos and AMR audio (phone videos etc)
Direct vobsub for subtitle handling

I was running Windows 7 on the NC10 btw not XP.

well i couldnt get the to work at first but after some faffing about ive figured out how to make played use the filers i want and woo hoo, the divx ones are working great.

many many many thanks, oh in i on xp btw

Solved, just uninstalled the bluetooth manager software. :P

I'm never going to use it anyway, but if I do I'll find a way to reinstall it.

Anyone who really wants a portable external monitor for them, I've been looking around and it looks like the only solution is a portable TV with a VGA input, then try and find a short cable, or just cannabalise an old one.

I'm not bothering with it, I don't do website work often enough and thats the only thing I'd use it for.

Just had to order my second NC10

Received my first today. All fine.

Was invited to dinner at mumsies house. Took the NC10 to show it off. Was bombarded with sob stories about how her laptop wasn't working, kept powering off (Dell Vostra 1000).

End result is me down one NC10 :(

Women.

Lol least it did not break or something, which was what I was expecting you to say :p

you had to give it away for free ?:p

Anyone know where to pick up a cheap power supply/adaptor for the NC10? Most places seem to want £25-60 for it. That's just plain ridiculous.

Had a look on the bay but I'm a bit dubious about them. One supplier from Hong Kong has one listed but it just looks like a mobile phone charger, i.e. without the big black transformer.

I appreciate the battery life is incredible but if I'm staying real late at work, it's nice not keep having to manage the brightness to extend battery life. A spare charger would be perfect.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, Yes they are!

Just make sure you don't sleep on it though :O

once did that with my phone and woke up to the vibrating alarm thinking I'd weed meself!
