Samsung NC10

Guys I have asked nicely a couple of times to not mention competitors. Please remember the rules.

I have just been given comfirmation that we will be receiving the black NC10s Friday.

I am going to get an NC10, just not sure what colour yet. Want to see them in person to decide but tbh the white is more appealing to me atm. Black laptops = old IMO as most nowadays are silver.

You had been warned!

A nice Silver with black keyboard still nice.. don't know who decides on the colours for some netbooks but they must be aimed squarely at Young Girls ;)

You might want to do a bit of quick editing on above post

Thank you for the information Slackworth. I really can't wait for it to arrive in stock!

I've been considering a netbook for the past 6 months and i think i've finally found the one i want lol:D

Don't you have to pay for p&p by phone?

i know dont remind me !! didnt see it till i got home free delivery at top of forums.
im also abit annoyed cos i missed the 666 deal other week as i was told on the forums had to order 6 items as it turned out just have been 1 or 2 so ive potentially lost £30, oh well

woohooo hope friday if for def i cant waittttttttttt !!!!

Reading 240 posts just to find an answer to a single question isn't exactly efficient. If your not posting to be helpful...then why did you post at all?
There's a search button. I didn't go through all 240 posts to find that reply, I looked for 'hard drive' and deliberately didn't link to the answer. Making a new post/thread for something that has been covered already is stupid. I guess I just want people to use the search function.

:D Last night I ran a Wind, 901 and Samsung side by side for 4 hours What do You want to know ?

Jakus, I've seen posts where you say the 901 has better sound quality, is it a big difference to the NC10, secondly is the volume of NC10 as loud as the 901.

I had an Advent 4211 / MSI wind clone which I sold because the volume of the speakers was rubbish! I want a netbook to watch movies on, but not using headphones.

Any additional information / opinions about the speakers of the NC10 would be greatly received.

Thanks,
James

About exactly the same as My requirements for a Little portable, Music and Video when I'm away
It won't be popular but here it is..
The NC10 sound through the speakers is terrible actually painful, maybe as bad almost as the Wind's
It go's plenty loud enough but I have tried every equalizer setting etc to make something of it, I have even put wadding in front of the speakers to try to cut out some of the piercing frequency's without success !
Also the LCD panel is not as good as the Wind or EEE viewing angles colours and black/detail dark shades don't even display (when You compare HD side by side to the others)
If the loud speaker performance was not an issue and You knew no different about the panel the NC10 is the best around (sorry forgot, the mouse pad is poor also)
bottom line for Us it's an Asus 901/1000 with the dolby sound ;)

If your point is that people should search rather than ask, why did you tell them where it is?

And woo Friday! Anyone know when that would be delivered for?

A quick word of advice regarding the initial set up - when you first switch the computer on, after you set up Windows, the recovery program runs and asks you how you want to partition the hard disk. Note that D: is not used as the backup location (as suggested by the warning when you try to shrink D: below 25GB), it’s actually just an extra partition available in Windows. The recovery program uses a pre-partitioned hidden Z:. I like to have all my documents on a partition separate from the Windows system and made the mistake of setting up D: to the 25GB minimum thinking it was the recovery partition and would essentially be wasted space. There is no easy way to change the partition size afterwards, Partition Magic didn’t run (error 117). I fixed it by reinstalling Windows from an external CD drive using the recovery disk and everything is set up perfectly now, the drivers were all extremely easy to install from the Samsung CD.

At least I now know that the system is easily to restored to it’s original configuration should I wish to try a different OS in the future!

I had exactly the same problem, i ended up restoring windows using the hidden partition.
