Samsung NC10

Just put XP Pro on mine a bit of potch but got there in the end. I've created a bootable USB Drive with an Acronis True Image backup so if something goes wrong I just pop in the USB drive select the image and it restores.
 
I have to say im loving mine, at first i thought the battery life was going to be a tad optimistic but 7 hours is quite easily possible with screen brightness turned down, 6 hours easily at a nice compromise, overall much nicer than the advent 4211 i had previously for the money you cant go wrong :)
 
For info, Ghost 10 works fine with a slimline USB DVD drive.

Made my image in Windows, successfully booted from the Ghost disc, swapped to my image DVD (UDF, ~4.3GB) and it found it no probs. USB memory sticks are fine too.

Pretty much what I did but used Trueimage and stuck my image on the USB drive itself.
 
Had one of these for about a fortnight but totally missed this thread!

Awesome little machines - I have Ubuntu Netbook Remix installed on mine, works like a charm once I had done a few minor tweaks to get some things working :)

Anyone compiled an Atom-specific kernel for one of these yet?
 
Yeah, i expect a slight 'cloudiness' in a tft from the lighting but your eyes are drawn to these 2 splodges...like eyes looking back out at you. I just hope they send the new one out quick and dont mess me around with a please wait 2 weeks while we look into the matter.

I've have my NC10 for 3 days now, and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, but I have the exact same blotches in the same position as you did! So it's not a one-off fault (and I've seen the same fault mentioned in a US forum). So now it's decision time, do I keep it, or send it back (to Play, where they'll 'test' it and probably send it back). I reckon I'll call Samsung later and see what they have to say - hopefully it'll be "ah, it's one of those, we'll send you a new one and collect the old one"
 
I've noticed the same blotches on my screen and am in exactly the same situation, keep us posted with what Samsung say. :)
