Samsung NC10

It appears that there is hope for those with screen blotches. It does sound rather hit and miss for the time being though so perhaps it's best to wait and see.
Samsung have been quoted as knowing about the problem but being uncertain as to which machines are affected and if a fix is in the pipeline. I'll leave anyone that's interested to look up the information.

^ Try catching it with some strong masking tape. Reminds me of an old mobile phone I had where the sim holder was similar - not enough to get a hold on.
Get a thin strip of masking tape and get it to tack onto the adapter, perhaps with the sdhc or a thin nail file or something. Then pull on the masking tape?

Anyone noticed slightly blippy audio?

I realise I can't expect anything brilliant, but with Winamp 5 and the headphone out to an amp it can be quite noticable at times - like slight cut-outs/delays in the music.

May go hunting for an updated Realtek driver...

Not had any audio problems at all though I'm running Vista if thats a factor. Had it playing internet radio yesterday through headphone cable to amp auxiliary input and other than perhaps having volume quite full, there were no blips.

How are you finding it running Vista?

What are people using for mobile broadband with this? I have a sony P1i but im not sure if this will work, also my tarrif is only 100mb/pm with 02 and not that fast to be honest.

The 02 dongles are quite expensive...30 for dongle then £2/day £7.50/week £15/month with no indication of actual speeds, anyone?

Portable C&C is bloody tempting me mind!

Also can anyone recommend a USB freeview tuner for this, worth it?

I'm using an O2 USB Dongle on O2 £15/Mth 3Gb for 18Mth Contract. Getting speeds connecting at 7.2 or so windows says but getting 60%-100% Signal Strength and it is pretty fast, comparable with my PlusNet Home Broadband at upto 8Mb running at 3.4.

Got it via QuidCo with £155 Cash Back and free O2 PAYG T280i which went for £60 on eBay so £55 total cost for the 18mth contract or £3/Mth. So well happy :D

Does 2gb make much difference to speed/responsiveness?

Not too sure as I upgraded it same day so couldnt tell you what it was like because it would have been just bare XP before it and that wasnt too taxing on 1GB. I think its a plus if going to Vista, and certainly for me running VirtualPC or VirtualBox guests or Media Centre.

I think there was mention of someone pairing their phone via bluetooth and accessing the internet earlier on in this thread.
I use a Freecom USB DVB stick for Media Centre and works fine.

Anyone running NOD32 on this? its what i've always used and wondering if it has any effect on performance?

Got my black NC10 on order :D

OK, had a few days of playing with this now

And it is superb.

I truly have committed some truly awful deeds whilst as drunk as i was (and some of them have been pretty fit as welll), but ordering this is up there with the best of them. (Who happened to be called Miia, 21, from Finland)

I had 6h 40mins from my first charge and that was playing with it lots.
Keyboard gets a little used to, especially the ! and ? and the shifts etc. but generally, keys feel fantastic.

Both the touch pad and the screen are great, although their lack of vertical height can be annoying!

Though i did get Football Manager 09 to run on it!

It's incredibly quick for general internet/video/music, suprisingly so for a little processor.

Wifi is bulletproof, had absolutely no dropouts with a cheapo wireless router.

Gets a little warm underneath, but it's near silent - i love it!

So nice and easy to watch iPlayer, 4OD and redtube in bed.

Best drunken purchase ever!

mine suffered a complete crash today, not sure why? worked fine last night....tried booting this morning and it was incredibly slow getting to the window xp bootscreen with blue progress bar, then would bluescreen on me!! had to use the samsung recovery thing, and restored it back to factory setttings (tried the non-complete recovery option but didn't work either)....at least that worked i suppose, and not missing any important documents thanks to starting to use dropbox recently! just re-installing everything as we speak....

Samsung NC20 is coming out next year and the spec doesnt seem to change apart from a CPU which clocks at lower 1.3, instead of the 1.6 they have in there NC10's. hmmm?
