Samsung NC10

rather than wait for the hsdpa version - are there any mods floating around on how to get a 3g modem in this beast?

By my reckoning theres plenty of clearance for a dongle with the plastic case removed to sit next to the wifi card where the 3g card should be.

I'd be more comfortable wiring this onto the back of the usb port or a spare usb space on the mobo (if there is one) rather than soldering a whole new molex for the pci connector

Have seen a few for the eee but none for the nc10

Does any1 know how to overclock the nc10....msi wind etc has the option in bios and some of the others can be done with setfsb but found nowt for the samsung :-(

thanks

Overclocking enthusiasts' forum or not, I think you've missed the point of the NC10 :p

Any luck with cases / neoprene slips?

Just bought one of these Case Logic and it's an excellent fit for my NC10. Its basically a small neoprene slip case with carrying handles which is what I wanted. The zip has a padded ridge so that it doesn't scratch the netbook and an outer zipped pocket that you could use for CD's/USB flash drives/USB cable etc. Though you could probably fit the mains charger in this pocket, I wouldn't recommend it as it would be far too bulky and may put pressure on the NC10. If you want to carry the charger you need a larger more rigid case with a separate compartment.
The padding is more than sufficient for my needs but I doubt it could stand up to being dropped. Also with it being black neoprene it's likely to attract dust. Very happy with it.

just be careful when removing the plastic ram cover - as well as the screw there are 4 little tabs holding it in place (2 opposite end from screw end and 2 1/2way down each side). if you just pull you will likely snap it - i used a fine blade as a lever to pop them out and it worked fine

second that, thought i was gonna bust it but it came eventually :)

Got mine today and absolutely love it. Put XP Pro on it from mem stick (this took most of my day to do =D) and added a 2GB stick of RAM, and it just flies.

Really easy to use, can now speedtype quite well, thanks to the large keyboard, and got a few apps on there to get me started. Did a few tweaks from the nc10 forum, and boottime is 30 seconds or so, shutdown is about 10ish. Light, portable, and performs well, highly recommended :)

Merry Christmas!

Can anyone else confirm around 6hrs battery?

If that's constant across multiple users then hot damn, I think I can stretch a few extra £ !

6hrs+ is easy, i was in bed the other day (manflu!) and used it all day from around 10am till 9pm on and off still had about 20% left, ive managed over 7hours before constant use.

Same here, 6hours with ease, I have the brightness turned halfway. This is with playing a few games, listening to music surfing the net and watching a few movies off of my server.
