Whatabout using the CD/DVDs that came with the unit? How would you boot those from another CD/DVD?

Read the thread at http://www.sammynetbook.com/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?8 to install XP Pro. Actually after reading that thread I followed the instructions here: http://www.eeeguides.com/2007/11/installing-windows-xp-from-usb-thumb.html and got XP Pro succesfully installed

(I removed the backup partition/everything before installing XP Pro fresh).

Can defo confirm the 6hr battery life for anyone considering buying an nc10. Had mine downloading some stuff the other night over wireless from the net...set if off when i went to bed around 10ish with 100% batt life and it was still on when i got up the next morning for work at around 6ish...had about 5% left!!! Is great for using to browse the internet on (great you dont have to keep looking for a plug socket every 30mins like with me old laptop!). Also use mine to run mixvibes dj software which was why i wanted to find away to overclock it like the msi wind etc as as standard it struggled abit while running mixvibes unlike my mates slightly overclocked advent 4211 (wind copy) but since ive upgraded to a 7200rpm hard drive and 2gb ram that problem appears to have vanished.

Craig, you said you put a faster speed hard drive in, 7200rpm, what size did you put in? was it hard?

how come there isnt any guides of adding a bigger hard drive to the samsung nc10!

Just wondering how long you have to charge it for when you first get it? i've plugged the battery in and the AC's connected up and its showing a green light.

It says in the manual you have to let it charge to 100% before you use it.

wouldnt worry about it, mine came and was about 95% charged used that and recharged, 293 is a goof price at the min, got mine for 295 del on launch week so cant complain

swapping the hard drive is simple, remove about 12 screws, remove the casing and then a couple more screws and remove hdd, voila!

Just noticed that my F7 and F8 keys are a blueish colour depending on the lighting. Had the laptop 2weeks now and only just noticed!!

ive put a 320gb western digital scorpio black in mine. removed all 12 or 13 screws from the bottom of the nc10 (they seemed to all be tight then found they all had loctite on them

). then the bottom of the netbook comes away from the rest (honestly it does just held together very well wiv clips!!!) and the hard drive is in a caddy held in wiv a few more screws. just be patient.

Handed back my acer one blue today after a bit of a nightmare, got the blue samsung nc10 in it's place and have to say loving it

I'm tempted to get a 7200rpm drive but I'm worried it'll become noisy... it's as good as silent stock!

ive got the 250gb scorpio blk 7200rpm in mine and its near silent.
flies along with 2gb ram too.

was your previous one 5400rpm? just wondering if you notice much difference in battery usage now its a faster HDD.

ok i just received my nc10 from ocuk, there were a few problems with delivery but i live in gibraltar so most of the problems were DHL's fault...

i'm really impressed with the nc10 itself, looks amazing and runs fast.
i turned it on, charged it fully, and now i'm running the battery down, is this the right way to do it?
