Samsung NC10

It is, not seen the dell but the lack of proper hdd is a no go and the lenovo has only 2 usb ports? i often find im using 3 at any one time

been using mine for month or so now, never needed more then 2 usb.. mouse and whatever. baring in mind the S10 does have an ExpressCard 34 slot. A tv card, usb hub card, Sata2 card or Wireless 3G card can be added ;)

mrk - Could I just ask mate how you're getting on with Windows 7 on the NC10? Have you loaded any of the Samsung controller software to get the Fn keys to work, and to control the power settings and speed settings?

The only thing that really stopped me from sticking with it was the fact that the Samsung stuff wouldn't run natively, and I missed the functionality.

tbh I'd envisage using 0 usb ports 99% of the time :) Lack of larger HDD doesn't bother me about the dell.

I so almost bought the NC10 yesterday in town, but will more than likely order off the intaweb to get it cheaper.

The S10 has one instead of another USB port I think

Hi,

I installed the Samsung Hardware Manager package which added the Fn keys and volume/display OSD etc and it all works perfectly fine! I used the Vista version and it was super. Camera also works fine with Camera Player. I even managed to chat and video convo with my cousin on Gmail and he said the voice/picture was good :)

Argh, i hope i made the right decision.

I have returned the Acer Aspire One over the weekend mostly because the short battery life and decided I am to get the Samsung NC10.

I was just in a PC store, had the unit in my hand, got to the til, then the tech guy (who actually knows his stuff !) and I had a chat on why i wanted it, it wasn't a sales pitch to make me get a laptop....i think, it was because some people buy netbooks thinking they are laptops and returning it when they got home realising it doesn't have a CD-ROM. Anyway, during the conversation I realise that i don't need it. I only want it.

Plus I also saw the 24" iMac, which i fell love with, and seriously thinking putting money from the NC-10 towards that instead, which to be honest, £350 (after RAM upgrade) is a big chunk of the budget for a new iMac.

So bye bye NC-10, was a good brief romance while it lasted !

Not many salesman like him then :D

I need one and been wanting laptop for ages for travelling only so can have access for internet as i still prefer PC any day. And don't really like laptop as too big, expensive and i only need for internet, storing photos and music/films so netbook just perfect for me.

What colour should i get, white or black, both nice, does anyone have picture in HD so i can see them before i take the plunge?

Thanks

The black is much nicer, i saw the white one too today and the plastic on it is got this funny glitter like effect which IMO wasn't that suiting to the unit. The black on the other hand, wins hands down.

tbh, i will use it every day if i get it, i commute to work daily and i will use it to watch tv programs. And that's about it really, the journey has 2 tunnels with lots of country sides so any internet will be interrupted constantly, the train has no wifi so it'll be a £350 Divx machine. I do have an iphone but stopped converting the shows onto the iphone because it takes too long to convert due to my slow computer. If i can convert one in a min or 1 with a new pc then i would.

And with £350, i can get a new PC as well !

im sure there is if you google around. personally ive found it hard to find many slips, sleeves and cases for a 10" netbook. think ill probably get this...

its 12" so a little room for the charger, mouse and spare battery, £25 not bad. the official "sleeve" alone for mine costs £30

Have you got a link to the version you used? :)

I probably just get sleeve or pouch type.

Just wondering what kind of security do you use for this netbook. I'm a fan of Norton Internet security but for this i can see gonna slow down a lot tho.

Thanks
