Samsung NC10

So tempted to get one of these.
I was so close the other day, but then my dad told me of a 2 week old Vaio TT that might become available for the same price :o
And for a £1600 laptop, i may have to get that instead...Sorry samsung :(

Thanks, so N>G but not noticeable due browsing the web as wireless bandwidth is not the constraint, the isp connection is? :)

For me it is the much improved range and signal strength rather than the speed increase. Great for an old house with thick walls and down at the bottom of the garden.

Although the speed will help when loading it up with media.

Just ordered a black one seeing as the Dell Mini 10 pricing has gone stupid.

I've also ordered a 2GB stick (£17) as I intend to run Windows 7 and an Intel 5300 WiFi card (£15.50) as lack of 802.11n is one of the few things that lets the Samsung down vs some of the other netbooks.

Can I ask where your getting your wifi card from??

Doesn't the 5300 use 3 antennas? I am guessing you would need to add the third one as the stock card in the NC10 only has 2.

Just completed a clean install of XP onto mine, but can't seem to get some of the keyboard shortcuts working again even though the Magic Keyboard application has been put back on.

Some keys work (CPU speed), but others (wireless, brightness) aren't and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to reset them up (hardly any options in the keyboard app).

Different Samsung apps make different shortcut keys work Easy Display Manager doe's some and Easy Speed up manager do some more.

Try here and here

From the second link

To get hotkeys working, you need to install:

Samsung Easy Display Manager - allows most hotkeys to function
Samsung Battery Manager - maybe not needed, but probably works with speedup manager
Samsung Easy Keyboard-it allows the Samsung Magic Doctor (Fn+F7) and Easy SpeedUp Manager (Fn+F8) keys to work

From China via a popular auction site.

Yes it does have three antennas but you don't have to connect all of them. Obviously the more the better, they only cost a few pounds, so I have one on order.

Yes and No

It is the next Samsung NC range but at 12" can or should they still call it a Netbook?

Thats the big debate isn't it, where does the realm of netbook finish and laptop start!! Although the NC20 has the larger screen the specs are pretty much a standard netbook.
Can you class the NC20 a laptop just because of its screensize??

Just opened my Samsung NC10 up its very sexy looking, from first glimpses it looks beautiful is pretty fast but obviously nothing compared to my computer.

The keyboard will take a little getting used to and I am going to use a mouse instead of the tracker because its annoying :P

Anyone any recommendations for speeding this up, except for getting another 1gb of ram?

I think we will see something like an NC10x/NC11 as a followup to the NC10, much like ASUS have the 900 series (900, 900A, 901...) and the 1000 series (1000, 1000H, 1000HE). The NC20 may still be a netbook but it's clear that it's not the 'new' NC10, it aimed at a slightly different segment of the netbook market. I expect things like wireless N and SSD versions to follow in the NC10 series, there is already a version shipping soon with HSDPA labelled the NC10 (O2 have chosen this for their mobile broadband packages).

Hey guys, whats the best anti virus software to run on these? Also does anyone know of a fairly decent and cheap carry case/bag type thing to put this in as the one it comes with isnt the best.

Thanks
