Samsung NC10

...mine arrived today (as above) but it only connects at 54MB even after enabling auto channel widtha nd installing the latest Intel drivers.

My router is a DIR-655 and is set to G and N mode. I have set it to pure N mode and it detects the connection but fails to connect. It connects fine in 54G mode though...

If you are using encryption is it set to AES? TKIP encryption is not supported at N speeds and so is capped at 54MB/s.

Swordfish Sleeve Size

I purchased a Cool Bananas neoprene sleve for my NC10 but I'm not that impressed by it. It is a good snug fit, but as a result it is a bit of a wrestle getting the NC10 in and out. Also the material isn't that thick and so I doubt it actually offers much more protection than the standard Samsung sleeve.

The Swordfish sleeve does seem to be much better padded but I am concerned it will add too much bulk. Would someone who has the Swordfish case be kind enough to measure the exterior size whilst the NC10 is inside?

Risked it and picked up a Swordfish sleeping bag today. Whilst it does add a little more bulk to the NC10 it is not too bad and is of much higher quality and offers much better protection than the Hot Bananas one (which I'll be sending back).

Ok guys,

Got a new NC10 black today, as mentioned my old one had a broken left mouse button so the local store exchanged it for a fresh new one, good thing because the old one had a few scrapes and now i have aniiiice new one :D

I'll retry the wireless N card and install the 3rd aerial and install Windows 7 build 7126 just to be nice and fresh :)

Hi guys,

Just got a Samsung NC120 which is my first netbook and love it so far. There is so much bloat installed though so I would like to do a clean install of Windows 7 RC. Is this fairly easy to achieve? I have an external DVD drive I can use.

Window s7 RC is a public release, simply go to MS Windows 7 site and log into your live account to begin download. they will mail you a product key.

200 or 220 nit (LCD brightness)?

Hi there

I've seen various specs saying the NC10 has either a 200 or 220 nit display (i.e, that one is effectively 10% brighter than the other).

I've also seen various boxes that have the 200 nit figure on some, and 220 nit figure on others. (It's on the third line down of the "Features' section on the sticker on box)

Just wondered if that was actually reflected in the hardware? What does your box say?

Thanks

Marcos

Mine is 200 nit and can't say that it's made much difference to be honest. As I have the brightness quite low anyway to save battery ;) I also got my NC10 not long after they were released :)

I'm becoming due a laptop change at work and I'm considering one of these...

All I do is outlook, excel and access all of which I believe are single threaded?

Currently using a C2D 1.6ghz with 2GB of RAM and its fine, do you reckon I'd be ok with this?

The sell to work is I go with a cheaper netbook and get a decent screen and keyboard for when I'm in the office.

Cheers :)

The NC10 would handle that no problem, it's capable of a lot more. Your only issue could be screen size with large spreadsheets but you could get used to that.

Liking the sig.

cheers :)

I'd get a proper keyboard and monitor for when I'm in the office :) I use a 14" Toshiba at the moment and thats a bit small but as I keep trying to tell I.T getting a 15.4 screen is for the most part just like putting a magnifying glass over the screen as I can't get any more cells on the page..
