Samsung NC10

Well that was easy. :)

Installed Windows 7 RC on my NC120 and very impressed. No driver issues, did a fresh install so deleted all the bloat and partitions. Seems to be running as quick as XP.

Another quick noob question:

Is it possible to hook up a 20" monitor via the VGA port, a usb keyboard and mouse and run at 1680x1050 for when im at home? If so does the lid have to be up or down?

Were you aware there was a different type then? Had you seen one with 220nit side by side?

I wasn't aware until you mentioned it. Sadly not seen a 220nit screen to be able to say how big the difference is. I reckon it'll be quite small tho :)

Yes. Infact, you can run upto 1920x1200 from the VGA port :) It'll depend on your power settings but you can have the lid down as so long as you don't have set the system to shutdown/hibernate when the lid is closed.

FAIL, I've just been trying to install Windows 7 on mine for the past few hours and realised it's the x64 version, no wonder it isn't working.

I brought the Samsung N110 yesterday, installed Windows 7 straight away, no problems at all. Loving the battery life. Going to upgrade the memory to 2gb next week.

What's the fan noise like on the n110? For example using it for just web browsing at night when all is silent, is it quiet or a pain in the ass?

If it's anything like the NC10 (I imagine it should be pretty similar!) then it's pretty damn quiet. I would be surprised if it was on all that much just web browsing, and I think you could even set it not to come on at all and run on low power mode.

You can't hear it in an ambient room, in a silent room you can hear a whisp of air, nothing more.
