Samsung Odyssey 49" OLED G9 G95SC

It didn't have a 3440x1440p setting in the EDID so that killed it for me :(

Yeah right! WTF were they thinking? You can do some hacky stuff with spoofing that res at native (what I did for PUBG) but cmonnnnnn.

Assetto Corsa is an absolute dream tho and I use mine for work which is great. Wonderful for photos too.

Still waiting for the OLED update to the old LG 38” screen with 3840x1600 tho. That’s when this thing gets moved on for me (and even then, moved into another room for assetto purposes!)

39in coming at some point (year?) with a 5120x2160p resolution but not with a 1600p one from what I've seen.

It's certainly one I'll be interested in myself if they stop doing silly things with it like that massive unnecessary curve...

I've switched from my G9 OLED to the LG 45" (newer GS model) and it's rather refreshing. The only real thing i'd say the G9 offered and I think it's more down to tweaking is that the colours popped a little more on the G9. Maybe the glossy panel helped here?!

What I love about the LG is that every game just fills the screen and looks incredible at the same time, something the G9 failed to do with it's letter boxing. Also it's simple things like no silly menu to select sources, the LG just works! If I was going to be picking something out i'd say the lower PPI can be noticeable when working on some content but not every time. In games it's not noticeable at all.

I did consider that model myself at one point but just couldn't find a decent deal on it. Think I may try the 39in when they come with 5120res in about a year :)

For folks with the G9 who want to use 3440x1440, you can do this reg hack (requires adding again after driver updates, so best to export once done for future double click convenience) - this works for PUBG and does 240hz

Simpler than it looks

1) open regedit
2) search for NV_Modes
3) for me it was found here:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000
It may be 0001, or 0002 etc for you depending on how many graphics adaptors you have (or have had)
4) add (without quote marks) at the end of the current entries "3440x1440x8,16,32,64=1F;"
5) reboot

Roll on an OLED with high refresh rate and 1600p... The 5k/2k might be it, but not sure about the refresh. I do miss my old LG monitor tho, just works nice.

Nah, £899 wasn't a good enough deal imo. How are you finding it btw? Can you hear the fan at all?
Honestly, I didn't think it had a fan?! I've not heard it if there is one though.

It's a much more liveable monitor, the extra height size is nice in games and the 8000R curve does wrap nicely around you making the gaming experience a lot more immersive. I'm 100% happy with my switch.

Hoping some owners can way in and help me make a decision. Going to try and pick up one of these ridiculous ultrawides over black Friday with some code stacking. On the face of it I'd thought the G93SC as it's cheaper but seems to be pretty much the same as the G95SC. Any quick view of the differences for those in the know?

I'm also tempted by the higher res of the G95NC but thats quite a step up in cost and VA rather than OLED. Any thoughts on whether it would be worth the trade off from those who've made their decision? Cheers

Really enjoying my G93SC so far which I have had for 6 months. I start my PC and my desktop shows up, I dont need to navigate through any Smart TV type menus to get there, it really just behaves like a normal monitor. With the latest firmware it now has pixel refresh which I run weekly or so. I havent used the G95, but if its anything like my Samsung TV I cant really get on with those menus. I do think it may have more picture customizing options from various guides I watched, but the 93 was easy to setup and have looking good to me.

Very helpful thanks. Totally agree on the smart menus, all I need is a monitor. Though I might use a KVM to switch in my work laptop but should still be straight forward single input on the monitor. I'll actively avoid the Bixby and Alexa rubbish.

Next issue is the 93 being out of stock at the moment...

My only moan really is the 3 x USB C which I use for KB and Mouse and firmware updates, so you need some USB adaptors and its a tight fit, but once they are in there is fine.
