Samsung U28D590 mini review

Hmm... has anyone seen extremely fine lines flicker across their panel at times? it happens very rarely.. not sure if the DP cable is low quality or not. Its not very noticeable.. I have to keep looking at the monitor for more than 10 minutes before seeing one of those lines go across the panel. Doesn't happen in game, just on desktop mode..

Hi, I bought the monitor about 3 weeks ago and was having the same problems as waspy. I was using the DP cable included in the box. This week I just got a new DP cable CDLDP-002LOCK, V1.2, gold-platted, from Amazon, and the flickering is gone. There are also 1m, 3m and 5m versions for those wanting different lengths. I guess the cable included on the box is just some cheap dodgy chinese cable, people having this type of problems should buy a new cable, that could be the fix you need.

Update: After a few days using the new cable, the flickering became noticeable again and its back to the same frequency as it was with the other cable (every now and then up to 10 minutes or so). So I don't know what can be the issue regarding the DisplayPort

Besides that, the monitor has been great, although a 4k resolution on 28" is too much for a Windows desktop, so I had to zoom everything to 150%, still plenty of space on the desktop.

I just hate the way that Windows threats the DisplayPort as USB, and everytime that the monitor is turned off it resizes everything to my second monitor (a 1360x768 32" HDTV) connected through HDMI, so I have to make sure to close any windows that aren't full screen before I turn the monitor off or they get resized. Hope MS would do something about this, but it seems this is a problem that has been going on for 2-3 years and they haven't done anything yet.

Hows your new cable holding up RatedKh just curious as it looks like it could be a controller timing issue in the current batch of 4k monitors.

Actually I came back to the forum just to comment on this exact issue. Although the first few days I don't think I noticed any more flickering, it is happening again just as frequently (like any now and then up to 10 or so minutes) as before. It's not very annoying, but you do notice it easily while just browsing the web or using some other programs.

If it's related to the cables then I don't know what type of cables are we supposed to buy, so it is probably something else like what you mention.

Are people sure it is the cable and not some other inherent problem? My supplied cable was a little short, so I bought a cheapish cable (3 meters) and no issues at all. I have no clue but do see people mentioning the cable quite a bit.

Expecting my monitor tomorrow If I'm lucky:) Does anyone know where to get 4k video apart from youtube? Hope I don't have the flickering lines issue, Just sold my 1440p ips bad boy for this Samsung!

Hi, Got my samsung today, easy set up no problems but the screen just turned itself off and back on after a couple of hours usage.Do I have a problem?
Using HD7970 xfire games running better than expected so that's a bonus.Any help would be appreciated.

Check your power settings it might be that it's set to turn off?

I dont have nvidia hardware do don't thing I should have nvidia audio or am I wrong? I have physx installed though.

Maybe 'AMD Audio' drivers do a similar thing? Do you actually use the speakers? If not try disabling them in Windows. Right click the speaker icon next to the clock, click 'Playback devices' and you should see the monitor listed as a source which can be disabled.
