Samsung U28D590 mini review

Received today, Like it a lot, Would love it except for the flickering issue when using Displayport, I only have the cable supplied by Samsung to hand so will have to order one.

If you mean tiny sections of the screen flickering, a new cable will do nothing. Well I have used two now and both do the same.

Hm that doesn't sount right, The whole screen turns off for about 1 second then comes back on, As if its actually been powered off briefly.

I'm on HDMI now and it's fine, Except for that fact its 30hz lol.

I have ordered the cable coded:CDLDP-002LOCK someone mentioned above which they said resolved the screen on/off issue.

That's a different thing then. The think I'm on about has been reported numerous times in this thread, it's tiny glitches on screen.

I've not tried 30Hz but I get the momentary glitches (usually bottom left) with both DP at native 60Hz and/or any combination of settings using DVI at below native and also when using PBP modes using any combination of inputs.

At this point I'm 99% convinced the 4K scaler/signal processing isn't really ready.

Mine are normally just above centre a few inches long. There is defiantly something wrong somewhere, I just hope it's something that is of low quality and likely to go pop.

I'm cautious - it sounds like an interesting panel but Acer in my experience have been extremely hit and miss and more often miss than hit.

Rroff did you have the AOC 29" superwide currently on TWO for £259.99 or am I thinking of someone else. If it is you, is it any good, would be mostly gaming rpg style and watching movies on Blu-ray, surfing etc. Sorry to be off topic. :o:)

So on another note after having the samsung for 10 days without issues It just turned it-self off when the screen went into sleep mode and would't turn back on.I pulled out the power plug, made no difference so then I pulled the power cable from back of the monitor put it back in and that turned it back on, Does anyone know how much warranty time I have from overclockers I f I need to return it? Mmm slightly concerned:(

Not me - I do have the Dell U2913WM which is a super wide 21:9 2560x1080 though. They are pretty decent panels in general with a lot hitting 75Hz without any tearing/frame skipping. I think the main problem with the recent 29" superwides was that there seemed to be a high chance of getting one with worse than average backlight bleed other than that they are decent panels.

After having had the monitor for 3-4 days It's driving me a little mad so I think it's going back, Running on DP with the cable supplied by Samsung creates massive flicker so I bought another cable that someone said stopped the flicker, It arrived today and it's flicker just as bad.

Any idea's?

I know someone who has exactly the same issue (only worse) with the Asus and a 290 (AOC is apparently bad with 290 to), do you have any other cards to try?

I just got my U28D590 2 days ago and i have the same issue, apparently common to most 4K displays and most noticeable when using 290s

I have the same setup as you 3x290 and the flickering is there with the original DP cable and one other random DP cable i had lying around. Some people report that changing the cable solves the issue, so i was thinking about ordering a bunch from Amazon, test them all and return the ones that don't work.

What was the one that you tried unsuccessfully?
