Samsung U28D590 mini review

I don't have the nVidia HD audio stuff installed but on my AOC 4K panel I had to put the volume to 0 (no mute feature) or I'd get the popping and display flicker at regular intervals.

I need to buy a new monitor and am trying to decide to get a standard 24" or invest in the 4K screen. I have a VTX290 card, could I expect to run games reasonably with this? How does Windows 8 look, is the text easy to read etc?

At £440 I'm thinking of picking 1 of these up, Hmmm decisions!

My honest opinion is don't bother, wait for better panels. Having owned one a few days the high resolution is nice, but the up, down viewing angles are terrible. The screen quickly goes too bright or too dark if you are off the sweet spot, right, left are fine though.

Thanks for the advice, I'll be coming from a Benq XL2420T which hasn't got great viewing angles its self. Is there a panel thats due out in the immediate future that's worth waiting for?

Thanks

Later this year, yes. But if you really want one of these 4K monitors now then I'd say go for it. Try it. If you don't like it return it, but you may love it. ;)

Was I to buy one of these screens from OCUK, and for whatever reason be unhappy with it, would the screen be returnable on this basis? Im sorely tempted, but reading posts on here the opinion is very wide ranging and its a lot of money to spend on a punt.

You can return it under dsr if you are not happy oc would even arrange the uplift but this would be chargeable to you

from Experience with this panel i would go with the Asus one instead,

the stand is much better and IMO its a better all round screen, it costs slightly more but I'm loving mine!
The samsung i had the same issues as a lot of people on here

Up from £439 to £479 and now £499.

Looks like I've missed the boat! :(

If you really want just buy one of the b grade ones for £399.

That's what I did, it was pixel perfect with very little screen bleed. And you can still send it back via DSR if you are not happy.

The free game redemption will also still work, which you can sell for £15. So works out at £385 for the monitor delivered
