Samsung U28D590 mini review

I can not understand why all these issues were not sorted before samsung and other manufacturers started selling them. What I also find surprising is how much apathy there is at AMD and Nvidia with the latest batch of drivers and support.

I've done a full safe mode clean and found that really any game at 4k can have nasty hitches and flickers if you pan the camera at certain objects. Metro 2034 was the worst but problems only manifested on the surface outdoors but it was white screen flickers. The menus in Just Cause 2 were like a strobe light but gameplay was flawless. Crysis 3 was great looking but there was more than just tearing happening I could see it.

Basically performance with 2 regular 780s is basically perfect with fxaa or 2xmsaa in every single high end game but they all flicker a bit here and there even tomb raider without AA flickers.

Turn SLI off and EVERYTHING is perfect no flickers or anything just low frames due to lack of GPU grunt.

new sli bridge £10 from that big online shop place coming tomorrow so............we shall see..............after that beg EVGA for some sort of beta bios on their forums and failing that try a £70 lindy displayport cable as a last resort and return it if it doesnt work. There's clearly nothing wrong with these amazing monitors and everything wrong with nvidias SLI support on certain cards. Maybe I should be trading towards Titan Blacks but I really don't need 6gb vram I've only used 2.4gb max in any game so far. Skyrim maxed was about 900mb!

New sli bridge and new displayport cable did nothing. urgh. So yeah gonna try swapping card 2 to be the main card next.

edit: tried cards in different slots and together and other way around and cables in top or bottom card with all different cables and sli connectors.

Still flashing and tearing in the games I am trying to eliminate it in. Still works flawlessly on each card individually.

Edit: Now I've tried forcing pcie 3.0 and flashing both cards to hydro copper bioses. Again no improvement in SLI............maybe I should roll back to Windows 7 as a last resort!

Hello could someone post a photograph of an SLI connector that has seen them ok with this monitor in SLI in all games please as I have narrowed this down to only a certain type of bridge revision that may work for me. EVGA say there is only a brand new revision that works.

Just a basic Rog SLI connector.

Yes basically if you have nvidia and a 4k monitor with flickering you need to change SLI bridge to a new revision. Looks like ROG ones and the new EVGA revision work.

Black nvidia 2 types for me dont work.
gigabyte solid 3 and 4 way neither work.
msi orange ribbon does not work.

ordered a ROG one and going to swap my EVGA lightup bridge for the new revision for when I go 3 way :)

And Samsung finally have a review sample! ;)

Bah! Everyone has moved on to bigger and better things now :D

I will still be interested to see your review though :)

@ Bemaniac. There is nothing on it except for the ROG branding. A quick google brought up a few you can buy but seemed they were in the US.

EVGA are releasing a 4K variant.

You may have to buy from EVGA direct to guarantee compatibility.

Dom has stated those that have bridges causing issues will have them replaced at EVGA's cost :)

Yep I'm going to get mine replaced by EVGA so that I have finally the chance to use this monitor in UHD with SLI. Man playing grid autosport native with 1 card is slow lol I've been filling my SLI-less days with diablo 3 :)

Heh. Well I am quite surprised by how many people still read reviews I published many months ago, whether considering purchasing or needing help with a
settings. So hopefully it will be useful, even if th hype has died down ;).
