Samsung U28D590 mini review

Brilliant, thanks.

Will just have to sneak it past the Mrs. She's getting her eyes tested tomorrow, I'll just have to convince her its been 27" all along!

So Greg, or indeed anyone, would I find appreciable difference between this and my 1440p monitor? Bearing in mind it's the Samsung S27B970D that I have so I'd be going from a PLS panel to TN (admittedly I haven't used TN in a couple of years so I am fully aware they have improved). I'm also not sure whether I'd miss the height adjust.
The one thing aesthetically I think I would like about this new monitor is compared to my S27B970D the stand and monitor itself takes up much less desk space and I think it's lighter since there's no big glass panel and the bezel is much smaller.
I don't do any photo or video editing so the panel doesn't need to be top quality but I do like the vibrancy of my current display. I mainly just do the usual web browsing in between gaming - so I would think I'd expect a big jump in the 1ms response maybe?

My 1440 Dell IPS had nice deep colours, which are more vibrant than the Samsung but I have fiddled with the settings in the NCP and got colours nice and deep on the Samsung. The 1ms response time is a god send for gaming and no colour ghosting like I got with the Dell (if that makes sense).

I feel people will need to experience it or wait for PCM2 to give a review, as he explains things far better than me but going from 1080P TN 120 Hz to 1440P IPS and then 2160P TN, all 3 have their pluses and minuses but the Samsung is my monitor of choice for gaming.

Kind of a strange question here, would appreciate feedback if you have the time / resources.

I'm tempted to grab one of these bad boys to replace one of my Hazros - however I'd also be looking to hook it up to the PS4 and use it in 1080p for gaming, do you happen to have any feedback on what it would be like for that?

Thanks Greg. I have pre-ordered from the Rainforest - for no other reason than OCUK have yet to offer free delivery to Northern Ireland. The advantage here is I can also send back for free should I think the monitor isn't up to scratch compared to my current sammy but your review and comments have left me salivating and can't wait for it to arrive! From any reviews that I can find they mention this has pretty punchy colour reproduction (for a TN) but contrast figures pretty much suck - anything to say on this?

Yer, I did find it a bit too bright from the off and this in turn made colours look washed. I fiddled about a fair bit and have finally settled on:

Brightness 65%
Contrast 100%
Gamma 1.00

All other settings are defalut and this for me gives better, deeper colours.

For the PS4, it would render at 30 fps and would upscale (I believe) but I wouldn't know what that would look or play like sorry as I don't have much wanting for the PS4 just yet.

Edit:

Nice one Mario and glad I helped you get the menu to English :)

This sounds really stupid, but could you give Counter Strike Source/Global offensive a whirl to see how it copes with one Titan? Only game I'm particularly interested in outside of work. :)
