*****SANDYBRIDGE MOTHERBOARD CHIPSET ISSUE*****

Because its a widespread issue so its hardly fair on OCUK to have to deal with all our returns. If you are RMAing a stick of RAM you are probably only in a group of a few people RMAing at that time whereas this is hundreds or thousands of people needing to return their boards.

Hey mate,

With respect, ocuk chose to continue selling them, and my board will be going back to ocuk.

This is true but my board was sold to me before the issue was revealed. Its more Intel and the board manufacturers fault for not testing properly before rushing them to market, than it is ocuk's fault for selling them.

are overclockers selling the revised boards yet?

No reseller in the UK will have received any yet, as the motherboard manufacturers themselves are only just starting to produce them.

Personally I think it will be April at the earliest, before they begin to appear.

One option should be for the retailer to allow existing sandybridge customers a purchase of a new B3 board and register the transaction at time of purchase to give a refund for the purchase price of the old board against it when it is returned.

This would ensure minimal downtime as the new board is provided first
The retailer gains marginally or does not lose on the transaction.
The buyer loses marginally but credit card charges can be avoided if paid promptly.
The buyer can choose to change the make and model to suit their needs.
The retailer credits the buyer for the board on return.
The manufacturer credits the retailer for the returned boards.

simples.

I must be blind because I can't find OCUK's official standing on this in this tread. I want to buy quite a few components but it hangs on the Gigabyte UD7.

Does the motherboard have to develop a fault to be RMA'd?
Is it a "credited" swap out as some have suggested?
Is it sent to the manufacturer or to OCUK?

My credit card stays in my wallet until I find out.

You should hang fire , the new B3 boards are due any day now

I wonder.......

Normally i would just go through asus but i want some more computer bits, it would be nice if overclockers would replace my board for me whilst at the same time as i am buying more stuff.

i guess no one really loses then. really cant be bothered stripping down pc twice in a few months but at the same time i want some over clocking stuff.

Another competitor is starting selling/replacing the new b3 boards tommorow.

I've been checking the usual suspects during the day but don't see anything available. I think they are suppling their AIB partners first, system builds next then make what few are available to buy on their site.

Shame really, a big order hangs around getting this mobo.

a shop has just started listing the P8P67B3 LE & P8P67B3 PRO as in stock today, tho the LE is limited stock, so hopefully, it shouldn't be too much longer before they start turning up at ocuk?.

I've got the MSI GD65 and I have seen the posts from ScottiB trying to keep us all informed and I really appreciate that. But now that it looks like the new B3 boards are starting to ship to suppliers and subsequently to new customers when is someone just going to give all of us with the affected boards a definitive answer to the question, How and When are we going to get a replacement ?

We don't know exactly how yet, but in answer to the 'when' question, so far as Asus are concerned, they are curently telling customers that replacements arranged by them will not be available until May. I have already told them that I consider to be far too long a time for us to have to wait, espedially as 'B3' boards are already available from some retail outlets. It would though seem to be up to individual resellers as to whether or not they will be willing to give an immediate refund (or exchange) at the present time.

I was however told by Asus today, that they will be allowing customers to 'upgrade' if they wish, rather than being obliged to accept a 'like for like' replacement, which may be of interest to some.

P.S. Welcome to the Forum! :)
