Sapphire AMD Deals

Just wondering why theres never been a restock of the gigabyte model, it looks like a dual slot card - which is something I am after really ( not a fan of losing PCI slots when I do actually use them )
Wasnt it gigabyte that has the issue with the pcie slot (whats the opposite to slot?) Breaking? Not sure which card it was though, or if more than one was effected.

If you're referring to what I think you are, the Gigabyte cards had cracks, where the PCB failed at, or very near the some point (where there is a distinct cut-out section that may be unique to Gigabyte, after/above the PCI-E slot, near the retention clip).

If this is a design fault, or just a few cases sent to graphics card repairers, I don't know, but what is consistent is that Gigabyte will refuse warranty if there's any physical damage to the card, so you don't want one that develops cracks.

Take a sick day, true warriors always find a way.

Not for me. I'd consider it unethical, so I won't do it. Also unfair to whoever would have to work extra to do my work. And also a waste of money as I wouldn't be paid. But mostly because I'd consider it unethical.

So I'd hidden the card until my day off. Out of sight, out of mind!

Yeah, thats what i was thinking of.

It's deceptive photography / rendering, it's a 2.5 slot card, creeping more towards 3 slots (not sure why it's not listed as 2.75 in all fairness.

I was really proud of my willpower the other week when the 7900xt was down to 699.99 and I convinced myself I didn't need to bother.

Then Gibbo decides to drop the price once again and not only do I end up now just buying the 7900xt, I decide if I'm going to get a new GPU I might as well upgrade my CPU cooler (D15s inbound), case and case fans.

Pretty happy across the board with the purchases, just deciding how to best bring it up to the wife. I'm definitely going with the 'CPU cooler was free with the GPU and they just threw in some fans' as one angle...

Why not go with "the fans were free with the CPU, and they just threw in the GPU"?

:D

Just tell her it cost £150.

Spare a thought for me, stuck on an oil rig and the WiFi calling isn't working, with the only option being to ask the wife to confirm the 6 digit code when I've input her credit card details.

...And the credit card company include the purchase total with the code. :(

Its all deceptive. Cards shouldn't be called 2.75 and should stick to 1, 2, 3 slot etc. Nots not like you be use 0.25 of a slot!!
Yeah, I agree. For some SFF cases it can be really relevant - but for general use it's so much more useful to stick to 1, 2, 3 etc.

I put together a build in a Formd T1 a few years ago and that was where knowing if a card was 2.25 / 2.5 / 2.75 was really useful as you could adjust the spine in that case (sandwich layout with the CPU on one side and the GPU on the other) and you could increase/decrease CPU cooler height depending on what slot size your GPU was. So if you had a 2.75 you're looking at say a 45mm cooler vs. 2.5 gives you a 55mm cooler.

Just redeemed my code and it is quite different to how it used to be done. I did not get an email invoice but on your printed receipt there is a barcode in the Starfield item.
  1. Go to the AMD Rewards web site (just google that phrase) and login. You obviously need to have or create an account
  2. Type in the code you want to redeem
  3. It will provide a link and tell you to download the AMD Product Verification Tool
  4. Install the tool and it will check you have an AMD qualifying product installed.
  5. Once it verfies that you do indeed have a qualifying product, it loads the AMD Rewards site and lists the Starfield Premium* reward credit
Note: The game is not released yet, so you will be told you will be told you will be notified of your code closer to release.

I tried redeeming mine on my main PC with a 4080 and an AMD 5900X CPU but it told me I had no qualifying AMD products. I had to redeem the code on the PC where I installed the 7900 XT.

A word of warning for those selling or buying Starfield codes. If you do not have an AMD qualifying product you will not be able to redeem your Starfield code. The seller may have to redeem the code for you and send it to you when AMD release it.

* I see people seeling these codes in the MM, please bear in mind this is the PREMIUM edition with early access you are selling. The cheapest I have seen this selling for is £65 on CD Key sites.
