Schumacher to Mercedes GP?

... he did far worse things in his career ...

So true.

Love him or hate him, if you want to consistently put up the biggest points total for the constructor/driver championships, MS does it better than anyone else.

I'm not sure though, whether in 2010, he will display the same ability.

Personally, I think Hamilton and Alonso are now the men to beat - MS has had his day.

i dont think it really matters anymore wether the wear was natural or from the curb he did far worse things in his career maybe FranKJH and dannyjo22 should get together some time and have a pint of BITTER

We would take you along but clearly you have a lot more growing up to do before you're allowed near a pub.

Rosberg is about to have his career ended. Full preferential treatment to Micheal, the cars won't even be the same spec. He's now the Brawn whipping boy until the Germans can get Vettel in place.

Depends if MS is just there for one year or continues though. I think Rosberg would be there for several years?

he only managed to win by cheating in Aus - but of course thats irrelevant isnt it

Indeed it is.

Cheating is all part and parcel of F1 and you must learn to manipulate the rules and situations so that you benefit. MS was the best at this and as a result had big successes. Remember, we only know about the shenanigans for which he got caught. He probably did a lot of other things that we are not aware of and didnt get caught for.

no doubt most teams that were succesful did the same the difference is most stuff that used to be considered innovative started to be considerec cheating at the start of the 90s

Yep. Rosberg must try and be as fast he can. If he starts losing 0.5s/lap to MS, he is done for. He will perenially be thought of as a No2 driver.

By the time Vettel arrives, Rosberg may be so demoralised and beaten up that he simply wont be able to compete against Vettel.

Rosberg really needs to put everything into 2010, even if it means he beats MS and leaves Mercedes after 1 year - at least this way, he will still have his reputation in tact and will be able to negotiate a good deal with a future employer.

He will be there for a good many years I imagine, first as MS's understudy with the promise that one day son all this can be yours If you toe the party line. Then they will break the bank for Vettel who will want and get No1 status. MS will have already damaged Rosbergs status by then and Vettel will be team leader or whoever else they get in.

Undoubtably MS and Brawn where and likely still are the masters of running a one car team to the very limits and beyond the rules. Whether thats still possible how F1 is run these days will be interesting to see.

What nobody has mentioned is the total change in attitude to money in F1 and the fact the cars are more reliable and more evenly matched - lapping back markers last time out happened only in the closing laps so it will be interesting how MS copes in the new order. He also has the 'advantage' of not having driven the car this year without a full tank; everyone else has to get used a massive dhange in weight..

Just like they did with Button and Barrichello this year :D

Rosberg isnt going to play second fiddle, however as Eddie Irvine stated, when your racing against the best, its still better to be 2nd best behind Michael and be better than everyone else!

Of course I understand some people cannot take their Idols being critised in any shape or form, I should be more sensitive to these types of people. I apologise.

Interestingly others on here have gone on a tirade about how I'm a Schumacher fan boy and never say anything bad about him, so I guess I cannot win.

Irvine was wrong. You could get away with being second fiddle to MS in another car, but in the same car it's career suicide with Brawn at the helm.

Rosberg like Rubens won't even know until it's too late that he's been tucked up. :D

I will be more amazed If Rosberg beat MS next year than Button winning the title. It will be hard to beat him when he pits for tyres and one of them is missing :D

Besides in fits and spurts Rosberg has shown potential but he's nothing like consistent enough to rattle a MS/Brawn partnership.

Thats a sideshow anyway, what we all want to see Is how MS would deal with hamilton If the cars are anything like equally matched :)

Dont worry going by your theories Im sure Mercedes will make sure Hamilton has a few cylinders off beat to guarantee victory lol :D:D

I doubt MS is the best anymore. In fact, I would say that in 2006, he wasnt the best, let alone after a 3 year sabatical.

Wow. Dead excited but a tad concerned too. If Mercedes don't turn out a good car it'll be an embarassment. I'm just awaiting the one time LH overtakes him so he can be crowned the best driver that ever lived.

If anyone's interested, next year's title odds:

Hamilton 11/4
Alonso 7/2
Schumacher 13/2
Vettel 13/2
Button 15/2
Massa 9/1
Rosberg 12/1
Webber 18/1
Kubica 40/1

Wow, I wish I had a few grand to spare..

Schumacher to win a race is 8/13 with Skybet
NOT to win a race with William Hill is 3/1. You could bet on both and guarantee yourself a return, but you'd have to invest a lot to get something decent back, but you couldn't lose! :D

3yr contract, this is great for F1 just hope he has a competitive car (but not s dominant one like the Ferrari was during his reign)
