Schumacher to Mercedes GP?

Not supposed to but heck... a certain person was spotted at the Merc Building earlier. I am under the impression that something will be said tomorrow.

:)

I feel that MS is making a big mistake as he has nothing to gain and maybe a reputation to lose, however, his return would certainly make F1 more exciting, adding just a little extra spice.

Why does he have to have something to gain? What do you mean by "nothing" anyway? Maybe he just wants to, isn't that enough?

He has built up one heck of a reputation. He quit a few years ago, during which time, his 'myth' has already started to build.

What he doesnt want to do is come back (amid a lot of hype) and then languish in the midfield or worse, at the back of the grid, fighting with the likes of Bruno Senna and other newbies. This will seriously dent his reputation and myth.

A good example is Mansell - he was a great racer, won 30+ races and totally dominated 1992. Yet, many people remember him for his 1995 return to McLaren, where he quite literally, couldnt fit into the cockpit of the car.

The only scenario where MS's reputation can be built upon is if he comes back and wins a few races, in 2010.

meh if he can do well in other races like roc and karting he can do well in f1,

aslong as he consistently beats his team mate he would keep his myth status

Maybe he doesn't see it like you? Maybe for him, it's not all about reputation and myth, it's more about getting up in the morning and having a challenge, excitement, competition etc... who knows! Certainly not you or I. There is just no point trying to second guess his motivation.

I don't think Schumacher is motivated by reputation, if it was that that drived him then he'd have no need to to ROC, the Karting and Motorbike racing, risking his life for what?

He, quite obviously, is driven to compete and preferably win, and that's what he can get out of a return. The Merc is most likely going to be an, at least, top 50% car, with his obvious abilities both as a driver and in developing a car it will almost definately be a race winner by the end of the season.

And of course if it's good out of the box, and he can win another world title, I'm sure that won't displease him, but I don't think any possible risk to reputation is going to influence his decision, it's all in whether he has the desire to compete still or not...

News on the grapevine from midlands motorsport valley is he is there and strong feelings he will be racing.

Personally, still doubtful, but the source is a good one.

Like the McLaren and Ferrari's were meant to be at the top this year? ;)
