Schumacher to Mercedes GP?

That's not fair, big rule shake up was always likely to upset the established order. The changes aren't so large for 2010 so I don't expect upsets anything like as significant as this year.

Major tyre changes and no refuelling - still pretty substantial changes.

I think MS will be the title sponsor promoting his new book "how to get smug quick, a pictorial guide with pop-ups." with his smug face airbrushed as big as possible. Hopefully the Dukes of Hazzard will sort him out and stop him strip mining Donnington Park.

Maybe he doesn't see it like you? Maybe for him, it's not all about reputation and myth, it's more about getting up in the morning and having a challenge, excitement, competition etc... who knows! Certainly not you or I. There is just no point trying to second guess his motivation.

Lol

If that was the case he would have paired himself against decent drivers instead of hand picking patsies like he did for years. A driver looking for a challenge does not have a contractual no2 who then spends 5 years lieing that he even has the contract in the first place.

A driver looking for a challenge doesn't drive a different car to his team mate.

MS wasn't about challenge he was about winning by any given method and advantage at his disposal, which he did better than anyone in history.

If he comes back he won't be running in midfield, Ross has something up his sleeve and MS will make the best possible advantage out of it.

I doubted Brawn would win a race next year, with MS at the wheel it's hard to bet against him winning a race.

I'd go along with that.

Remember, MS has a HUGE ego. Someone who has such a big reputation, will have a big ego - it goes with the territory. He certainly won't want to come back and play around with the midfield runners, for the fun of it. He will want to enhance his reputation in some way...this is the nature of the beast and it is what has driven him over the last 1.5 decades.

You can't be certain about anything. Have you even met the guy? What was his bike racing if it wasn't playing around with midfielders?

That was playing around, not his full time profession, much like Kimi and rallying. Kimi will go to a rally team that isn't the best but wouldn't race for anyone without the chance to be in a winning car.

No one will say MS is **** if he fell off a motorbike in the same way no one would say Doohan was crap because he couldn't get a F1 car round 2 corners on a f1 circuit in 97.

MS will do nothing to hinder his reputation in F1. I'd bet my keyboard, If he turns up in 2010 and the car is 3 seconds off the pace he will have a reoccurance of that old neck injury ;)

When MS goes up against his rivals he's very very carefull how he measures himself. I always thought it was interesting top gear couldn't get him to do a run after Hamilton had set the benchmark.

Well said.

Like the McLaren and Ferrari's were meant to be at the top this year? ;)

From what I recall McLaren and Ferrari both left developing their '09 car very late, due to the championship battle, and arguably '08 to '09 was a far bigger change than '09 to '10 is (albeit this one is still fairly major),

This year Ferrari seems to be the in the best position as they completely stopped developing the '09 car quite early, but both McLaren and Mercedes/Brawn have apparantly been developing the '10 car from mid-season, I don't expect Mercedes to be as far back as McLaren/Ferrari were at the start of the year.

Hadnt thought of that - certainly the neck injury couldnt have been a factor at the speeds we are talking about in the "reasonably priced car" - couldnt do the run or at least couldnt televise it:)

his ferrari contract probably didnt allow it the same as when he goes to ROC he doesnt drive the road going cars

What his contract would stop him driving a Suzuki or whatever the hell it is?

The only person who stopped MS pitting his time against the other drivers is MS and they came up with that slow lap stig rubbish.

ever heard of FIAT?

still HIGHLY doubt Ferrari / Fiat would block him from doing this kind of thing

Im sure Fiat group have some rally cars somewhere around.....

The cars are very different from this year, despite on the surface not many rule changes. Just because you were good this year means little for next year. Fuel loads are massive and completely changes the weight, balance and settings of the car. tTe fuel tanks are also larger as such the body work is also larger. As well as a few other changes.

Sure there are changes, but do you expect the same degree of up upset to the long term established order in 2010? I don't think it will be anything like the upset we saw this year.

Oh come off it, you really think they would stop him driving a car thats a joke around a test track. It would be offset by the amount of time he could **** the car off and talk up the ferrari's he owns.

Ferrari and the Fiat group really wouldn't care about getting some time in a suzuki.
