Shadow Of The Tomb Raider

I keep getting random crashes for some reason. Running on a i7 4770K SLI GTX970's 16GB RAM and at 1440p at high settings. The game is silky smooth to my eyes so just curious if anybody else has had the random crashes?

I had to really wind back the GPU overclock to get it to stop crashing. I have a really small core overclock on the 1080Ti now, +70 from reference, nothing for memory. Other games were happy with +100 on core and +400 on memory.

Why feel the need to mention it then?
Oh here we go , people getting all defensive about a video game
I mentioned it because I saw the DF video last night and it looked exactly like Rise, then came here to get opinions of people who were playing it to see if it was more of the same and it is.
So what exactly is your problem? or can you not remove your emotions from pixels on a screen and be objective?

For some thats a good thing, for them its what they wanted, for others, not so much of course, different strokes and all that I guess.

Just to clarify, I'm one of the more of the same is good for me camp :D

It's not really that simple, either. Rise was more of the same of the first reboot, yet I really struggled to gell with the story or the other characters, like the Russian Jesus lol.

It's still a great game, but the game mechanics weren't really an issue for Rise. Hopefully get to try Shadow over the weekend.

Dry your eyes please.

If the game is more like the older games, meaning more difficult puzzles/exploring, less human enemies/shooting in general and more actual isolation, which I'm hearing it is to a degree, then I'll probably get it sooner. I also like the setting more than Rise.

I liked the reboot and Rise but the latter felt a bit bland, most locations weren't too memorable. Hope this one's better in this regard. I'd also love a bigger, more complex map.

I loved Russian Jesus. No idea why they stick with Jonah though..urgh.

Playing this on hardest difficulty with all glowing crap and objective markers turned off is like the older games makes it a lot more fun...

some of the puzzles at around 40+% do get pretty hard playing this way but its so much more fun!

I'm only getting 60hz on this game? I have a 3440x1440p Acer x43a.

Nevermind I figured it out.

I have a GTX 1060 6gb. I seem to only be able to play at 60hz If I go higher the game crashes. Hopefully, they fix this?

Yep had 2 x crash to desktop without warning its been patched a little while ago on Steam (158MB). Save often its not as stable as it should be. Nixxes are usually a very high quality PC porting specialist they will fix it eventually.

As someone that just complete Rise, this game couldn't interest me less. More of the same is just pretty boring tbh.
They need a shake up of the mechanics
Yes its exactly more of the same but $75-100M of dev resource thrown at it to produce the best graphics on PC yet seen (even without RTX)! Plus its bigger than Rise. I estimate its about 15-20% larger gameplay area & you get some extensive underwater sections as well now with pretty graphics. Maybe its not for you if you want innovation this is just another do not change it much play safe sequel from a big publisher.

Rise was funded by MS as a Win 10 Store & Xbox1 launch title is why the sudden leap over the 2013 game. Rise had a mega budget!

You need to report it to Nvidia and hopefully they'll fix it but with their focus on Pascal and now Turing drivers it may take them a while, especially if it's related to SLI, Report it to the game dev's as well, just in case it's their end.

Actually I've been in game for the last 3 or so hours and when I came out there was a game patch waiting to install so you might be lucky. How often does it crash?

2 hours in. No crashes. Had 1 microstutter. 62 average FPS in the benchmark and ranging from 52 to 75+ in game. That's with TAA anti-alising, everything else maxed apart from the shadow settings which are 1 level below the max. Motion blur and lens reflection off because they're pointless. Playing at 3440x1440 with my liquid Vega 64 slightly overclocked and at full power. The biggest surprise is that with this game my boost clocks are constantly over 1720 MHz where the norm is around 1680. Nice!

Stunning looking game, more of the same in terms of gameplay so far which is fine with me as the visuals and gameplay in the new Tomb Raider games is pretty close to my idea of gaming heaven. Lara's assets don't seem to have reduced a cup size this time as they did from TR 2013 to Rise which also pleasing! :D
