Shadow Of The Tomb Raider

Still getting lots of FPS drops & micro stutter which is frustrating as I disabled Vsync, AA & Motion Blur seems worse since the patch as well. This game really needs GTX1080 SLI for 4K or RTX series

Just came across a rather lovely Challenge Tomb which had a multi level solution & was a nice tribute to the older 1990s TR games plus also a very The Goonies style setting which was also very very well done ;) :D and that is only one of many many challenge tombs this game really is vast :)

Many? Only 9.

Trust me its way more that's 9 main tombs there are 7 to come on the season pass DLC alone & lots of other mini tombs. I am currently exploring a vast underground cavern which has many side passages & tombs it feels utterly vast in scale in a good way :D this is pretty stunning stuff & so atmospheric they really spent their $75-100M well on the gfx & atmosphere  its got very much an Uncharted 1 on PS3 art style (sunken Spanish galleons laden with gold & treasures in ancient south America vibe to it). Lots of dripping wet murky caves & deep underground subterranean passages. This game finally brings to life many of these richly detailed & fantastic underground environments in a good way :D so easy to miss entire sections as well some are very well hidden or require weapon upgrades to even access. I am starting to understand why they chose the art style now it perfectly suits these underground caverns!

Its certainly a nice break from the usual, I cant think of too many games which are set around the Incan/Mayan sorts of terrain and lore. Sadly I know very little of the gods and lore of those civilizations, which is making it a little tougher to click with the lore itself (in comparison to say Assassins Creed Origins and Odyssey - I know a very large amount about Ancient Egypt and Greece and its legends, lore and gods), but the terrain is really quite awesome in places. Just looking around the towering landscape at the Hidden City is a pretty amazing sight.

Out of curiosity, where is this underground cavern ?? If you wouldn't mind making a screeny and marking it roughly ?? :)

Lovely looking game, lots of choices for the settings such as how easy or difficult the puzzles are. For me being rather deaf there are additional options I've never seen in games before, apart from selecting different subtitle colours for each character there is also Audio description, this tells you of other important sounds made by the environment or off screen characters/ animals etc.

I'm only getting 60hz on this game? I have a 3440x1440p Acer x43a.

Nevermind I figured it out.

I have a GTX 1060 6gb. I seem to only be able to play at 60hz If I go higher the game crashes. Hopefully, they fix this?

I've also got the 75hz Freesync Acer X34a and after reading here I figured out how to change it up to 75hz and it's not started crashing, I'm using an AMD GPU though.

2 hours in. No crashes. Had 1 microstutter. 62 average FPS in the benchmark and ranging from 52 to 75+ in game. That's with TAA anti-alising, everything else maxed apart from the shadow settings which are 1 level below the max. Motion blur and lens reflection off because they're pointless. Playing at 3440x1440 with my liquid Vega 64 slightly overclocked and at full power. The biggest surprise is that with this game my boost clocks are constantly over 1720 MHz where the norm is around 1680. Nice!

Stunning looking game, more of the same in terms of gameplay so far which is fine with me as the visuals and gameplay in the new Tomb Raider games is pretty close to my idea of gaming heaven. Lara's assets don't seem to have reduced a cup size this time as they did from TR 2013 to Rise which also pleasing! :D

I've noticed a similar clock improvement with my Vega Red devil, This is the first game that's had my clocks going north of 1650, not all the time but it is getting a lot close tor the 1677 overclock in Wattman than ever before.

Cenote is the name of the region its North of the main Paititi Hub. Its kinda of the first main mission when you reach the main Paititi hub after about 10 hours gameplay time. As you progress through this mission tree you eventually come to a
very large underground sunken galleon puzzle in a tomb which is fantastic
. Well around solving this leads to yet another even larger underground cavern & several smaller side tombs\passages. Its best you just explore & play through the main mission tree you will find it eventually. The main chamber you cannot miss but some of the underwater stuff is pretty large & has several different paths to take some lead to other areas some lead you back to the main chamber. I do not want to say too much so it does not spoil it for you shall we say...…. ;)

Just reached that now, brilliant. Took some screenshots of the galleon so will put them in the screenshot thread :)

EDIT : And here too... lol, its incredible how much better the graphics actually look in game, screenshots really just dont do it justice.

Anyone turn off the feature that disables the highlighted surfaces that you can interact with? I wish to do this (going to play it tonight, the wife bought it before I could decide lol).

I hated the previous 2's approach to the highlighted surfaces.

I had to really wind back the GPU overclock to get it to stop crashing. I have a really small core overclock on the 1080Ti now, +70 from reference, nothing for memory. Other games were happy with +100 on core and +400 on memory.

My cards are at stock so I know it's not that.

You need to report it to Nvidia and hopefully they'll fix it but with their focus on Pascal and now Turing drivers it may take them a while, especially if it's related to SLI, Report it to the game dev's as well, just in case it's their end.

Actually I've been in game for the last 3 or so hours and when I came out there was a game patch waiting to install so you might be lucky. How often does it crash?

Multiple times in an hour at least.

Yep had 2 x crash to desktop without warning its been patched a little while ago on Steam (158MB). Save often its not as stable as it should be. Nixxes are usually a very high quality PC porting specialist they will fix it eventually.

Well as it turns out I have disabled SLI now and not had a single crash, I have a similar issue in Far Cry 5 so I guess it's time to upgrade my GPU :(

It could be the 1060 that's the issue. It doesn't matter I'm getting a 2080 next week.
Nice upgrade hopefully.

SLI and Crossfire are both becoming less relevant and getting less support that's slower to arrive so a move to a more powerful single card is a good option.

Can this be done on the previous two games ? Did they add the option via a patch ? I only ask as im thinking about reinstalling them to play through again but havent played them both in ages.
