"I want to speak to the manager, NOW!"

We're looking to get a cat suited for indoors, and me and my partner will be working during the day. We want a cat that will be social with the owners, and isn't going to tear the place up when we're out.

A bit of research suggests a ragdoll cat. Are there any other breeds suited for this sort of lifestyle?

Thanks

Maine **** cats are pretty docile.
Do bear in mind though that an individual cat can vary from its breed type.
In your case, when you view the kitten, do not go for the alpha cat. Tell the breeder you want a calm cat.

In my case, for instance, I went for the alpha male of the litter of 6. As such, 4 years later, he still has the alpha male tendency and demands a lot of attention.

Here's a video of my cat 4 years ago, when he was a 4 month old kitten. And to this day, he has not changed:

The dark coloured cat is the one I'm talking about. He needs a lot of attention and I he requires a lot of exercise, otherwise he becomes destructive.

Here's a photo of my neighbors cat Bella. Literally more of a family friend then a cat. I wasn't keen on cats before the new neighbors moved in (especially seen as we have a couple of ponds) but I can honestly say she was lovely. A massive attention seeker - often waiting for me to come home from work, and anytime I was out in the garden she would make her appearance known :) Even my mum and dad who dislike cats loved her, regularly letting her in the house and looking after here when the neighbors were away.
Devastatingly I arrived home one night to find her lifeless on the road. Someone had hit her with their car and driven off (that's what I think happened piecing everything together anyway) RIP Bella

I'm interested in getting a cat that will be loving and very relaxed. I don't want a crazy one who will scratch the hell out of my house while I'm away at work. :p

I have narrowed it down to a Ragdoll which seems lovely and very affectionate. Has anyone got one and is willing to give me their input on this breed? :)

Also, does anyone know where I can get them in the Bedfordshire area? I want a true, pure Ragdoll breed.

RIP Bella indeed :( Only thing that you can hope is that she didn't suffer.

Can't remember if I have posted in this thread before but here's my boys.

Jasper. Bluepoint Persian. He's about 11 years old now. The biggest sook in the world, he's sitting on my knee at the moment demanding attention. He doesn't always keep that well and is on lactulose twice a day for the forseeable future but he's such a happy cat.

Charlie. Tabby cat. About 3 years old. He was found on a building site with his sister when he was only 5 weeks, think his mum had died :( Always been a skittish cat but will come up for a cuddle every now and again. He's a proper terror and likes eating anything he can get his paws on, from packets of crisps to the sponge that washes the dishes!

Oh dear, with the change of season Timber has bought in 3 small birds, finch type things, in the past week. At least he is content to dump and play with them at the bottom of the stairs, but my Hoover is getting chock full with feathers!

Finally managed to get some pictures of our rescue cat Snoop:

She is not the easiest cat to get pictures of! She decided to investigate on top of the book case on Sunday night...no idea how she got up there :p

We have had her for 4 weeks now and she has settled in brilliantly...although she has started verbally scrapping with the local cats  Also loves playing with a toy mouse i bought her - so much so we have to hide it before we go to bed cause she will otherwise insist on playing with it at 3am...on our bed...whilst we try and sleep :D

She is only 8 months old and has been 'done' AND she is only a little thing but she had a HUGE furry ginger tom cat cornered in our back yard the other day, she was hissing, spitting and generally going mental at him :p
