Show us your kitty cats

With Applaws (wet food), you don't need to heat it up.
Its of such high quality and taste that almost any cat would lap it up cold, frozen, spilt on the floor, mixed with grit or soaked in drain water. :p

I spend a lot on food, but even I cannot justify paying about £10/kg for Applaws. Raw food (pure lean meat) comes in at around £6.50/KG, which is what I am currently spending my money on. If I buy high quality steak, I'd be paying somewhere around £10/kg. I cannot justify paying for Applaws wet food - way over priced.

Applaws wet is also only complementary and not a complete food, so should only ever much up part of their daily food intake.

I've got Macs and Granatapet to test with Winston first, then will try Bozita, Animonda and Grau.

1 week til we get him!!!!11 :D

What do you guys think about collars with bells on to stop them being successful hunters? Do they actually work? Any other tips worth trying?

Florence is getting a bit more murderous and Mrs W isn't too happy about it. Tbh, I'm not keen myself.

Never stopped mine being quite the effeceint killing machine, cats kill things, tis what they do, the only guaranteed way to stop it is not let the cat out i'm afraid.

I would say that they are useful, however getting the cat used to the collar can be a pain. We bought collars for ours from quite an early age, however one of the cats got the collar caught round its bottom jaw and got quite distressed so took the collars off both of them.

A couple of years on and one of the cats is a real hunter and brings quite a lot of things in and so we tried him with a collar again however he hated it and managed to get it off quite quickly.

The birds in the surrounding area are very pretty (yes the feathered type) and I hate the thought of our cat killing them :( (goldfinches, blue ****, great ****, robins and a couple of long tailed **** too)

/Edit, lol at the swear filter :P

LOL at the swear filter for ***!! :D

We've had one of those incidents already with the collar getting stuck over her bottom jaw, and is why she doesn't wear one at all now. I'll have to give it a try though, Mrs W will demand it. I'll get a safety one and see how long it lasts. The bell will drive the cat a bit mad though I think as I did put on on her once and she was totally confused by it.

Don't agree with cats wearing collars, some year's ago my neighbour's cat went missing, she found it a few days later in a large bush, hanging by it's collar.:(

Then fit one with a quick release catch... there's no way the collars on my cats would support the weight of a cat, let alone a cat struggling to get away.

My cat lost her collar just this week, more than likely after it got caught in a bush. Putting a non-safety collar on your cat is asking for trouble, but the safety, quick-release ones are fine.

More cool cats. :)

Me and the Mrs are going to pick up our new kitten tonight, went to visit last night and she is absolutely gorgeous and I'm very excited.

I've never had a cat before so it's going to be a learning curve. I've been letting my girlfriend deal with arranging the stuff to get for it. Dunno what she's got so far, but anything I need to look out for or is absolutely essential to get from the start?

Really just bowls (stainless steel are a good choice though we also use a ceramic dog bowl for water as one of ours likes a paddle and the plastic one got rolled around a lot, water everywhere) a litter tray, litter, some kitten food and some nice toys to play with / snuggle up to will be fine from the start. It'll find lots to do.

I think one of those towers is needed too..I'd so buy one if ours were still small!

A scratch pad/post is a crucial thing you missed ;)

Avoid plastic bowls for water, leaks chemicals, steel or ceramic for the win.

Facepalm! Good point.

On the plastic bowl front we also avoid them as one of our cats developed feline acne and the vet said get rid of any plastic bowls (main bowl was stainless, we had the 'crunchies if we are out for a while' bowl) and it would clear up and it did. So definitely no plastics for us now.

My cat Aero - not our choice of name. Spent ages getting my new camera set up and then trying to get the cat to sit still and look at me. After about an hour I gave up but she suddenly flopped into a bean bag and looked at me as if to say "oh go on then".

Added some blur in photoshop - quite pleased with the outcome.
