My cat Chaley when she was a kitten! Awesome, yet vicious creature!

This is Bo Peep. We collected her on Friday night, which ended up a bit sleepless! Last night was much better and she seems to be settling in well. Not the greatest pictures, but she refuses to stand or sit still long enough! :)

When I got my cat Jinx I has to spend the fist night downstairs with her as she was wailing so much when we went up to bed and it broke my heart to leave here there alone lol....and people say it's only a cat :p

Cat throwing up this morning, always feel sorry for them :( it always starts when im asleep only to be woken up by a massive meow and then gagging.
think he was drinking dodgy water outside - FAIL. oh well hopefully hes alive and hasnt made to much mess on my return.

Cats tend to throw up on a fairly regular basis. I don't think it's necessarily a problem. Often they are trying to cough up a hairball and bring a stomach-load up with it (one of my cats coughs up hairballs "cleanly", the other invariably pukes up her entire stomach contents along with it). Cats will often eat grass or other indigestible plant matter to help them throw up...

Also, if one of my cats eats cat biscuits she sometimes gets carried away, then when the biscuits expand in her stomach she throws the lot up (same cat as above with the hairballs).

I admire anyone who can get that to stay on their cat..we had a 45 second fitting experiment (female cat who had been spayed) which consisted of a lot of hissing, spitting and certain death for some of us, followed by keeping the collar on a shelf!

It broke my heart putting the cone of shame on Florence. She looked so sad and fed up but without it she wouldn't leave the stitches alone, undoing the end at one point.

Looks just like my Lilly. She had the cone on recently too.

She's not happy at the moment as I have just got a new 8 week old kitty. She's jealous and keeps hissing at him.

I will get some pics uploaded.

She isn't happy with it either, I had to buy a collar for her and use that.

She's a tiny cat so need a kitten collar for her!

Our new kittens are around 8 weeks old now, she will tolerate the female but hates the male one.

Well after reading all the posts about you guys getting your food off the internet for your kitties, I thought I would have a look at the meat content in the food I'm feeding Snoopy...Oh dear god I wish I hadn't!

She is currently on a mixture of Whiskers and Felix pouches (various flavours) with a few of Tesco's own branded food in there too...all of them have less then 4% of meat!!!! I was soooo shocked - I probably shouldn't have been but wow!

So when I made Snoopy her tea last night, I gave her a Felix Chicken (in gravy) pouch and threw in some cooked roast turkey (the real stuff) and mixed it in, thinking that it would be a bit better for her, until I get paid at the end of the week and I can order her some decent stuff...what did the picky kitty do? She turned her nose up at it all...she eat round the turkey and eventually left it and eat biscuits instead! It was still there this morning...turkey and all...

I have tried to give her tinned salmon before now and she did the same. I have also bought fish cat food from Asda which has 75% meat/fish in it...first pouch she hoovered up and then she wouldn't touch it after...

I am wondering that cause she is a rescue cat 'real' food tastes odd to her. Is it really worth me trying her on the type of food you guys are getting for your kitties? Im just worried that she wont eat any of the better food and I will end up with loads of food that she wont touch and will have to relent and buy Whiskers again :(

Annoyingly, the popular brands are high in flavour and low in nutrition, like McDs every day.

From what I have read (only getting first kitty this weekend), get a few flavours from the generally accepted good brands (Bozita, Animonda, Macs) and see if there are any your cat takes a shine to.

If she eats some but not all, wean her in to it by down 25% new food, 75% old food, then gradually fade out the old food, so 25/75, 50/50, 75/25, then only new good food. Only switch up the ratio once she finishes all of the current ratio for a few days.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea.

It makes sense that its just tasty junk food for her, but I don't want her to be a fat kitty and I want to give her the best possible life with us after having such a rubbish one

What's the best site for the better food? Is it the zoo one?? (sorry don't remember the name and cant find the posts :/)

Yeah, zooplus would be my recommendation.

If you need semi-decent stuff that is easily available in this country, HiLife is a good shout, much better meat content than 'leading' brands, but stuff from zooplus works out cheaper in the long run.
