Serious question to the long-haired cat owners (that’s cats with long hair, not owners with long hair, before some smartarse jumps in :p).

Do they get poop stuck in their bum fur? I’d really like a big fluffy cat, but am a bit squeamish about the idea of cutting poop out of its fur.

My sister uses babywipes on her MaineCoon.

Do any of you use a tracking device on your cats? If so which one and is it any good? My youngest cat Abby, who is normally very clingy and craves for my attention, has for the last few weeks been disappearing for long periods and that is not her usual routine. Normally she is out for no more than a couple of hours before coming back and demanding attention. Last night she didn't come home at all and turned up at 7.35 this morning. I have a suspicion that someone is taking her in at night. I would like to be able to find out where she is by using a tracking device as I am getting fed up with this. Before anybody say's it, yes I know she's a cat and cat's wonder. The difference is that she is my cat and this is completely out of character for her. I have not been sleeping due to being worried sick about her and it's starting to wear me down. So are these trackers anygood? Any info/feedback from someone who uses one will be much appreciated.

I got one of these last year

https://www.g-paws.com/

IWOOT.com had an offer on them so it was £30. The only problem with it is that it is not 'live' tracking. So when she comes in you have to get the tracker off her collar, and plug it into the PC and then it shows you where she has been.

This was one of Peanut's travels

Thanks for the answers so far. That's no good for me trixiBug as I would like live tracking so that I can go and get her. I would be even more paranoid if my cat went on all those roads too.

I have been doing some research this afternoon and some are £75+ and then you need to pay a monthly fee. I have found one on ebay though called the TKStar which can be had for £40 delivered. It has live tracking and appears to send the location using a sim card so seems to be exactly what I am after. I need to do some more research first though.

Anybody else with any input please?

My Maine Coons

Someone asked for Mainecoon cat pictures, here are my 2 (both boys) at 11 months old, they are now close to 7 years old. Note: that is a double bed.

Live tracking will always require monthly payments for the mobile connection.

Could just use the offline one and see where she spends all the hours.

Stunning cats :D

I have 2 Mainecoons , has to be the best in cat breeds around , such a lovely temperament , i want more :D trouble is they are very expensive but worth every penny

I agree, though being pestered for food can be a little trying at times! Not as expensive as some breeds, I'm looking at you, Savannah!

Yeah well, at up to 20k for a cat, that breed is not quite the norm ;) Lovely cats tho. If I was a quadzillionaire, I'd have a Savannah. To go with my Pumas, my Servals, my Cheetahs...

Seems to spend a lot of time on those roads... doesn't that make you nervous?

Seeing that freaks me out. I couldn't allow mine to do that.

Those results were from my dear, lost, kitteh Peanut :( He actually spent most of his time in the next door neighbors garden and in the back alleyways of the houses. I was never worried about him and roads.

Same for Snoopy (my other, older cat). She was a stray, and is road savvy. Although these days she is a lazy kitteh and doesnt really leave the house during the day. At night (before I call her in) she too spends most of her time in the back yards and alleyways at the back of the house. Most of the back streets around the house are cobble stone, so there are no fast cars around here!
