Anyone got any advice on how to stop him attacking me and getting him and Snoopy to tolerate each other??
Peanut is probably attacking you as you smell of snoopy.
I've finally got my three being friends after I introduced Bruce as a kitten to Dave and Lola. I think what finally cracked it was when I moved house, and they were all locked in together for a fortnight. Having to be close to eachother forced them to spend time together and they've finally made friends. It's taken 3 months.
I know you've had your two longer than that though, and so they've gotten into the habit of not being friends.
Just to check, they're both done? Have you tried a feliway plug in? Do they both have their own spaces they can retreat to and see as their own (for Dave, he found a shelf in the wardrobe that Bruce couldn't get to due to his smaller size) Is there anywhere in your home neutral that they could spend time in together? Are you anxious about it and they're picking up on your stress levels?
I did wonder at times if I would ever get to this stage, when Dave left home twice for over 10 days at a time cos he was in a huff, I questioned whether I had done the right thing. I ended up having Dave inside for 5 weeks in total (3 at the old place, 2 with the others after I moved) as I couldn't risk him not being around when I needed to move house. Bruce at that point wasn't going out either, and so them being in the house together all day when I was at work again forced them to spend time in each others company.
It also helped Bruce was a bolshy little so and so, and kept trying to investigate Dave, no matter how much hissing Dave did
Sadly, some cats will never get on, and will only ever tolerate eachother. My three are NEARLY at the point where they will sit together, although not quite, mostly because Bruce is still in the kitten stage of leaping about everywhere like a loon!
Have you asked your vet for any advice, failing that are there any animal behaviourists in your area that could come and give you some advice? It might cost some money, but also might be worth it. The vet might know of someone.
Also can you get two towels, rub the towel all over each cat (Google where their scent glands are as there are lots) and then go and swap the towels and rub them over the other cat, that way they get used to each others smell, in a non threatening way. This was something I did early on with my three to make Bruce smell like Dave and Lola.
Hope I've been helpful, I wondered at times whether I should have put them all through what I have, but they've thankfully made it.
