Caught Ronnie showing his nuts

Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced GPS tracker suitable for a cat. I want to find out whether mine is getting fed elsewhere which I hope the tracker will tell me if she remains in one place for any length of time.

I am looking at this:

And this which I am sure has been mentioned here before.

I asked the same question a page or two ago as my youngest keeps going missing and not coming home until the next morning. I also suspect that someone is taking her in and wanted to catch them in the act. However, after weighing up the pro's and con's I have decided that a live tracker is just too expensive at the moment so as recommended by Trixibug and Knip, I ordered the Gpaws one yesterday. Direct from their website it only cost me £27.95 including delivery so it's a fair price. The downside is that you can only see where she's been after she comes home and you upload the data on the collar. It should confirm where she is going though and I will have the data to confront them with.

The one we had included a sim card so you could live-track the location of the kittie (that was an important feature for us and the reason we got it).

I've searched my email history and can't find the supplier though... it was a decent little unit.

YAY!

I understand the downside of only seeing where she has been after she has been there, but at least you will be able to see if she is going in somewhere and you can go and speak to the people

The thing is.... some cats might like to "hang" about someone else's garden/area more than anywhere else. There are two neighbours who have very good gardens (like a forested mound) with tons of birds and guaranteed they will usually sleep somewhere around there (when it isn't cold, raining obviously), there is even one cat around here who likes to sleep on top of a flat garage (covered in ivy) of another neighbours house.

Unless these things are pin point accurate? And if the people do notice a weird looking collar, they will probably already know what it is and assuming they do take your cat(s) in, they will stop taking your cat(s) in, which I suppose will be the outcome you want in the end :p

The reason I got my g-paws was to work out Dave's pattern of trips out, so I could see where he might be if I needed to go look for him.

It seems to be since we've moved, he's spending a lot more time nearer home. Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon period, but he's spending a lot more time in the garden (now I have a bigger one that has grass and places to hide) whereas before I only had decking and patio.

I also thought that someone was feeding him due to the length of time he would stay out for, and so when I did wander the streets calling him, I knew where to wander based on the g-paws results.

Thanks people I think I will go for the G-Paws provided the company answers a couple of questions. But it seem communication is not something it takes particularly seriously as they have yet to respond to two emails and a question posted on their Facebook page. Which does not bode well for the company having a decent customer service.

I can see your point but the thing is that my little Abby is not like a normal cat. Let me try to explain.

We got her as a rescue cat in 2009 when she and her sisters were found in the flooded part of Elgin. She was 12 weeks old when we got her and I have always been here with her. She is a very clingy cat and craves for my attention. She sleeps on the bed at night either curled up against my legs or after the wife gets up at 4.45am she will come up the bed and curl up with my arm around her and stay there until I get up. If I am on the pc when she is in she sleeps in her bed under my desk. She is never far away from me and when she goes outside she normally is never out for more than 1-2 hours so her behaviour lately is completely out of character.

The thing is that she is a adorable little thing and is so loving but she will go to anyone and this is what I think is happening. My eldest cat, who we rehomed at 18 months old is a typical cat. She does her own thing, get's attention on her terms, will not go near a stranger and is happy as long as she is fed. Abby is not like that and I thinks that she is the way she is because we had her as a kitten and "shaped" the way she has turned out. Jade was 18 months old and was found abandoned along with her kittens so was already a adult cat when we got her.

Now Abby has been going out in the evenings and coming home in the early hours of the morning or even after breakfast. I am worried sick about her so am staying up late and then not sleeping due to the worry. This is getting me down and I am starting to feel unwell. I just have to know what she is doing to put my mind at ease.

This has happened once before. In August 2012 my other half and I went down to Cornwall (home for me) to finally tie the know. My next door neighbour (who loves cats and my cats get along with her fine) was looking after my babies. We had the cat flap so they could come and go as they like but it got set so that they couldn't go out at night which was their normal routine. We went home on the Tuesday and got married on the Saturday. We were due to go off on our honeymoon on the Monday. Sunday evening came and we got a phone call from our worried neighbour who told me that Abby had been missing since Thursday. She was in tears and had looked everywhere. I had a quick chat with the wife and we agreed that we would come home to find her. We threw everything in the car and drove the 720 miles (12 hours but seemed much longer) back here and got in at 9.15am the Monday morning. I went straight off to look for Abby and I found her within 15 minutes in the little woods just off the field behind our house. There is a little cottage there with a old couple living in it and it turned out that they were taking her in. I was bloody furious and explained to them that she was not theirs to take and that they had just cost me my honeymoon before walking off before I did or said something I would regret. We got in went to bed and Abby stayed with us all day and all night on the bed. After that we haven't had any further problems until recently.

Sorry for the wall of text but I am just trying to explain how I feel. They are my cat's and nobody elses and I just love them to bits. I know everybody says that cat's have two homes but this is different and I need to get to the bottom of things.

Yeah I completely agree with you and can understand your concern especially after what happened with Abby.

I kind of wish that I got a live tracker for TC, more so to make sure he wasn't on/near the road especially around busy times but he always lost collars and I imagine that the size/weight/feel of the thing would bother him/cats a bit.

Even though he was primarily my cat, he also lived in another neighbours house a lot of the time (who loved him to bits too), which I didn't mind tbh as it meant that he was safe and of the road.

Seems like the best place to ask. Have any of you cat owners introduced a dog (puppy) to the household? Our cat is 11 next year but we're worried the about the stress introducing a puppy could bring.

We've got two cats, 3 and 2 years old and we got a Border Collie puppy at the start of the year. He doesn't appear to have affected the cats at all and in fact I think he seems more bothered by them than they are of him!

It is perfect for summing cats up :D

Seems like he has a book full of cat poems similar to the calendar called "I Could Pee on This"

Got my first data from Abby's Gpaws locator this morning. Unfortunately it stopped recording at 21.54 and she disappeared all night again. So much for 8 hours battery life!! Between 17.29 and 21.54 she clocked up 3 miles in total. The last location was the cottage where I suspect they are taking her in but I need more data first before confronting them. At least she isn't going near any roads which is one thing less to worry about. I will try doing another 10 hour charge on this Gpaws to see if it will boost the battery life.
