Show us your kitty cats

@MCFC_ANDY Could you take the cat to the vets to see if it's been microchipped or it may have even been reported missing? Just because a cat is hanging around doesn't mean that they are a stray. They will always try to scrounge off anyone and after what I have been going through with Ozzy going missing for days on end I would hate to think that you may have unknowingly "adopted" someone else's much loved pet. I think it should be law to have all cat's microchipped and any responsible owner would be doing it anyway.

Yes, but the cat's interests should come first. You don't know if the cat is lost or deliberately left it's previous owner. If you take the animal to the vet, then they will return it to its owner without thought for the welfare of the animal. Personally, I would not leave it up to the vet. I would check around to see it the animal is known, see if there is any history, judge how well it was being cared for and so on. Up until recently, I would also scan it to see if it was chipped, because chipping is a good sign that the owner cares for the cat (buy a scanner, they are £20 on Amazon. Bear in mind they won't tell you who the owner is, but they will put you in contact with them.). Also, whether it has been snipped. An un-snipped cat is a cat owned by someone who cares little for the cat's lifestyle.
That little ragamuffin doesn't look like he has been well looked after. Sure, he might be lost, but he might have been abandoned or ignored. Returning him to his home could be a death sentence.

Took Ronnie to vets again today -A few weeks ago he had another fight and got bit on head just in front of his right ear - We cleaned it down for a while till it scabbed over and dried but he seems to have scratched it and it's now infected.
He is down to 5kg in weight which is only a few grams less than last time. So got to give him a antibiotic and liquid for inflamation - also had a worm tablet and flea treatment.
He was purring all the time the vet was checking him - Mind you I would have done as well she was quite fit.
He is now in for a lot of double cream -we crush tablets up and put it into a teaspoon of cream along with liquid inflamation liquid.

Ronnie soaking up the sun when we had some.

i didnt have a pet, but other day i found this cat sleeping in my yard, thought nothing of it, but every morning hes there, so went got some food, now seems ive been adopted  scruffy thing so must be a stray. anyway made himself at home:cry:

This happened with my cat. He just turned up one day and made it clear he lived here now. We didn't know if he was stray, lost or what - it happened at the start of lockdown though so we actually couldn't get him to a vet to check him for a chip for about 3 months. We found out then that he had an owner and contacted them. They were upset as they'd had him from being a kitten but they'd bought a dog a year earlier and said he'd starting staying outside for longer and longer periods until he just stopped going home. We did try sending him home with them but as soon as they opened their cat flap he was off and back at our house. We send them pictures from time to time and they're happy that he's happy.

Had to put her to sleep today. She lived to the ripe old age of 18 though :(

Sorry to hear that. she seemed to be a proper member of the family!

The family Siamese got to the ripe age of 18.5 years, including after having a stroke at the age of 3 where she had to be fed water by pipette during the night, then had to learn to walk again.

Happens more than you think. Cats sometimes decide to move house. There is really nothing the owner can do other than take it on the chin. You are lucky that his owner was so understanding. It's depressing when your pet decides on a divorce, but nothing you can do.

It does and it usually involves a couple of screaming kids and add a new dog into the mix and thats usually the finally straw. I really shouldn't laugh but I can't blame them honestly I'd probably do the same.

I have one at the moment. A lovely black and white has fallen for my female kitty. They are inseparable. He is slowly moving in to my house. I just hope his owners are understanding. I dread the time when I will have to contact them.

A few days ago id mentioned she has given up on the birds, well in she walks with a sparrow in her mouth. She drops it on the floor, I pick it up then it takes off flying around the living room...pick it up again and manage to let it out the patio doors where it just sits on the patio, seemed to perk up when other sparrows arrive.

I periodically check it(with the cat shut in) and the final time I do look it flies off so hopefully it was ok.
