RIP Yinka
she's been much better today. It is suggestive.she has had some kibble and lots of water just now. here's hoping. sorry to hear of any pet dying. always hits way harder than it should somehow.
So sorry to hear of your family's loss, thinking of you all. RIP Yinka.I haven't got a photo to post, at least I haven't hosted one anywhere but I lost my beautiful boy Yinka on Thursday night. I got back from work to find he'd had some sort of fit and his hind legs were paralysed. I took him to the vets straight away and they said he'd had a blood clot, Saddle Thrombosis and that it's was extremely unlikely he would make any recovery and the best thing was to not leave him in pain any longer. It was the day before his 2nd birthday. My 9 year old boy and I were in floods of tears. I still am. I'm absolutely gutted. He was just the sweetest thing, a majestic mackerel tabby, green eyes, gentle, clever. He would jump onto the bed any wss as me me up every morning, and lay on the bed as I read books to my boy at night.
So happy to hear that she's doing better today. Perhaps she's just had a viral thing?!she's been much better today. It is suggestive.
1. Fine on Friday
2. Very quiet on Saturday, bad poo, not hungry but drinking water, stayed in a dark place and slept all day.
3. Slowly more active on Sunday, more hungry as the day progressed, managed to do some exercise in the early evening.
Sounds like a hangover?
Hope he's ok mateRonnie has been beaten up again - got a big hole in his head between his eyes.
I have grabbed him an wife has washed it as best she can - Have two antibiotics left from last wounds and given him one - Just hope it heal's before the puss sets in.
One of ours in for a teeth clean tomorrow as advised by the vet. I worry as if she’s my child.
That was normal for our 2 as well. As you say it's the smell. They soon calmed down after a day or two.Well the teeth clean went well and I’ve bought some dental products that are meant to help. What I didn’t expect was the other one to throw a hissy fit when the one having treatment got home. I guess she came back smelling different and all the other one has done is hiss at her all afternoon. Hopefully they get over it. Reminds me how important smell recognition is to a cat.

Hopefully, they were best of buds before this. They won’t even eat next to each other at the moment which is really saying something. I’m sure they’ll settle.
The nurse commented that our cat was enjoying the drugs. She was high as a kite all afternoon
Awww so cute. I miss my two so much. The Mrs isn't ready for new cats but I'm desperate. She has a few times said the house is too quiet so am hopeful she'll change her mind soon.So the house has felt extremely empty without Buster always loafing around and making a nuisance of himself, and while still missing him deeply and that will never change, decided to start looking at what is out there for some company.
First off, have to say the local "big" adoption centers are appauling. RSPCA, Cats Protection, Blue Cross etc. I was open to adopting a middle age, elderly or cat with special requirements. They stuggle to be rehomed so actively looked to see if there were any cats in this bracket that I would give a forever home to. However I wasnt even able to see a single cat from these centers without being required to fill out a form, put a request through a website and then if they thought it was a match for the cats they would give me an appointment to see that cat.
Sorry but what? Thats not how it works with cats, it has to be a mutal 2 way thing, and how they take to you off the cuff without being "pre prepared" by being moved into a viewing room or similar is very important.
Found a couple of local independant rehoming services, the first was absolutely amazing, could walk around and interact with the cats and see how they behaved, their temperaments, and get information on how the cats were bought in, under what circumstances etc. However they only had one quite elderly cat whos owner died and he did not take to me at all.
Then on Sunday morning, these kittens popped up. While it never previously crossed my mind, thought it was worth considering. Arranged to go around and after an hour, agreed to these 2 brothers. The tabby and white one who when I sat down ran over and curled up in my lap and the grey/black one who spent the entire time playing and running around.
Names yet to be decided! So any suggestions welcome. Currently thinking "Doc" for the black and white one and "Leo" for the tabby and white. But any other suggestions welcomed, they are being picked up next weekend
I think the adoption centres brought in those new rules during covid and haven't changed back. You used to just be able to visit and see all the cats.
