why mess about with Vauxhalls when you could get a tidy Elise or Exige for the same money.

Because you cannot get an Elise of equivalent speed for the same money. And it's not a vauxhall in anything other than badge. Are you such a clueless badge whore that you are ignorant to the pedigree that the VX220 comes from?

If it's a lotus elise in disguise why bother getting the vauxhall in the first place? If it's a track car you want why mess about with Vauxhalls when you could get a tidy Elise or Exige for the same money.

Do your research sunshine. I personally think the vauxuall looks far less "girly" than the elise and i could not afford an exige which would be the step up (which to be honest since i have had the brakes and suspension sorted wont be a lot better IMO)

Step out of the thread as you are starting to look like a bit of a twit, your opinion is one thing but not having a clue is another all together ....

* Perhaps its worth giving the thread a tidy as all this banter is taking the attention away from the pics ;)

There was a customer on one of my postal routes who had a VX220. A few months later he replaced it with an Elise.

Moral of the story, it doesn't matter how cool it is or how well it performs, if it's got a Vauxhall badge on it you're going to be ashamed of it. Without the proper badge it's nothing.

The scene at a party:

"So what kind of car do you drive?"
"A Vauxhall VX220"

Or....to someone who doesn't know what a VX220 looks like, you drive a Vauxhall.

Same scene, different car:

"So what kind of car do you drive?"
"A Lotus"

Swarm of chicks surrounds you, etc.

See?

Nope

Elise - Common

Vx220 - Rare

=

It honestly wouldn't bother me enough to care.

If I tell someone I own an MX5, if they don't know about cars, they'll say it's a girl's car. I don't care what they think. Those who know about cars, will affectionately call it a hairdresser's car while recognising it as being great  ;)

I notice you put "VX220" in your sig and not "Vauxhall VX220" though ;)

Oh, forgot to mention, the guy with the VX220 I used to deliver mail to had taken all the Vauxhall badges off too.

I put Astra Turbo not Vauxhall Astra Turbo but you still know what it is ;)

lmao Many people debadge their cars. Also, you think debadging it really makes people think its anything other than a Vauxhall VX220 :D

And? People change their cars all the time. I went from a 328i to a 320i which is a downgrade much like switching to an Elise from a 220.

No, the moral of the story is that you are a troll.

Yes but IIRC the Elise would be a downgrade that left him out of pocket....but a badge upgrade. As Jeremy Clarkson pointed out what's the point in shelling out for a nice tailored suit if it's got a "George from Asda" label inside it?

Stop calling me a troll....it's so childish to lash out with "Waaah troll!!!!" at anyone with an opinion.

But i do not care about the badge

I de badged the car because i thought it would look better not because it said vauxuall and i am planning on putting the rear badge back on anyway .... There is a vauxuall badge on the steering wheel, there is no getting away from the fact it was Distributed by vauxuall ;)

Your not a troll your just misinformed and unknowledgable

Easy now, I know you've spent a lot of money on your car and you must really like it and defend it to the end but please don't start telling people that they don't have a clue about cars just because they're not a fan of yours!
I'm glad you like it beast and hope it brings you many years of driving pleasure.

But you are trying to tell me i should have bought a 350Z or a TT, there not evan in the same leauge. One is a luxurious two seater the other is a bathtub on wheels that is rubbish on the road but loads of fun on the track.

Its like me saying i fancy a really meaty dish tonight, a steak pie and you suggesting i have vegtable soup :p

There was no offence ment anyway :)

People make silly decisions all the time. Maybe he was willing to pay the extra for the badge and downgrade because he cared more about that than how the car performed. You see posers day to day that have an M3 or Porche because they have a few quid in the bank and not because they appreciate what the car can do.

Clarkeson was proving a point that some people are shallow losers. Just depends how you interpret it.

Then to prove it I challenge you to change your sig to read "Vauxhall VX220 Turbo".
