Happy with them here.

its for a 325i E90, the fronts are avon zv5 which seem ok and lots of tread left, the rears are ditch finders that came with the car and terrible in the wet.
replacing the rears with the eagles, then once the fronts are low will change them too.

never understand why people scrimp on just a few quid more for much better tyres.

I guess people just don't understand the importance, or just go to a tyre place and say "two tyres please" and thats that.

I'd rather have good part worn tyres than terrible new tyres if I'm in a pinch. When I had my Skoda I remember getting a pair of year old Michelins with 7MM of tread on them for less than a pair of 'Autogrip' tyres.

i guess on some cars the cheapo tyres do not make a difference for instance the wifes old focus gripped great on budgets, i have found that driving a rear wheel drive car it does matter a lot :)

the problem with budgets is that they might be fine on a dry road or deep summer..

but come rain or colder temps they will not do well. But where they fail the most is when you need them the most too, aka emergency breaking. Some have crazy stats like 20m+ in stopping time compared to premium rubber, this could be a difference between close call and A&E.

yeh when you put it like that its a no brainer.

I have the Assymetric 3 and I previously ran Assymetric 2 on my old F10 530d and have not noticed the 3 to be 'worse' than the 2. It's just as good if not better.

what i have noticed is say on a roundabout is the back end slipping and loosing grip and the TC kicking in, as its the family car too i worry about the wife and kiddies in it.
the eagles should be better and give us much more confidence in the wet.
the 225 45 17 are priced very cheap too.

They made all the difference on my GFs 1L automatic micra (god that was an awful car). We hadn't been together long, she lost the car on an off-camber corner, driving steady, in the dry! I had to come tow her out of a ditch. Upon inspecting the tyres I made sure they were replaced first thing. They were the cheapest of the cheap, no grip at all.

Sure, she managed to put it in a ditch while driving steadily around a corner in the dry... ;)

Having driven my Polo like a right ******* in the wet and the dry on all kinds of roads with cheapo tyres fitted, I find that incredibly hard to believe unless there was also an oil or diesel spillage on that corner.

I suspect there probably was something slippy, or a spillage, on the road. She doesn't drive fast. Needless to say, I think better tyres would have avoided the ditch.
