to those about the mk5, they were never designed for straight line speed, they didnt become best in its class for overtaking ability now did they ;) and a supercharger would suit them better than a turbo.
I'm not arguing with that, but if everyone had that mentality... than we would never have Civic's running 1/4 mile in the region of 7s. Looking outside the box is a good thing, going down the same route as everyone else is boring.

BTW I hate the supercharger wine, went to see a IS200 supercharged the other week. I'm not a fan of superchargers I'll tell you that much...

My 530i is rarer than an M5 but that doesn't mean it's worth paying more than one for

People paying bonkers money for cars with memories is what's driving these prices, bit of course the memories were with the car you had 11 years ago not somebody else's similar one?

True Fox, but I think the M5 analogy isn’t a fair one. The E39 M5 is widely regarded as one of the best M cars ever made (as you rightly know), so it would be a little odd to pay more for a 530i.

The E36 M3 on the other hand has always been a tough one, a highly competent car but shunned largely by the market. They are starting to rise in value mind you, good cars are fetching much stronger money than they ever did before.

All I can say is, I knowingly bought the car for strong money. I was happy to do so and I am very happy with the car. Did I buy it to turn it around in six months? Absolutely not.

Am I confident it will hold its money during my ownership? I am, given its rarity, the way it will be kept, it’s condition and the pleasure I will get from owning it. But I do understand why people may consider it a highly illogical purchase.

Then again if someone can show me another car in the same condition and specification I would be all ears as I sure couldnt locate one!

I have to say I thought he was a pretty nice guy
Yes well he would be if he had just sold an e36 for 11 grand. :p

It's not that he isn't "nice", more that he has a tendency to sell tarted up turds for silly money. (not saying yours is one of them!)

Think he has (or did have) an E30 325i Sport with the wrong wheels and a bodged rear arch repair for £25K.

wasnt so much for the whine, its more for the instant boost in performance from the moment you put your foot down, i have only every driven turbo cars and stock ones at that, but aside from the whine, people do tend to favour the supercharger for its instant power and probably lower maintenance.

if i wanted big power and the sound of the turbo spool then i would go turbocharged no doubt about it, but in terms of sound, some turbo cars be it factory or an upgrade kit can sound god awful.

Or the E46 CSL, a mint example is crazy money now...

Indeed but that is why the regular M3's are going up, particular clean ones and CS ones, the CSL is dragging them all up. Was a CSL for sale not long ago for like 95k and it sold I believe.

CSL prices have come down in the past 12 months and E46 M3s are not selling for anywhere close to asking prices.

Prices in general are definitely coming down slowly from the peak a couple of years ago. Totally different scale but a Ferrari 599 SA sold at auction last week for a half a million dollars less than it had sold for a year previously. Shed about 30% in a year and that's an uber rare, uber collectable Ferrari.

Even 991.1 GT3s have come down in price. Thankfully it appears that the endless speculating and silly prices are deflating.

Strange looking car the Veloster but I’ve always kind of liked them. Quite rare I always find myself having a good look at them whenever I see one. What bhp does that have? Am i right in thinking they are quite low powered compared to the sporty appearance? Have they stopped production of them for the Uk market now aswell?

184bhp stock, Yes , yes. We get the i30n while the states gets the veloster n which bumps it up to 250-275bhp.

184bhp for the turbo I think.

Ineed :)

I'm think an induction kit and a radiator kit along with a custom tune could take it a nice way and not break the bank.

Wait until you realize it has 1 door on one side... and 2 on the other!

Yep, the driver has control of 3 windows, their own, passenger side front and rear ^-^

As you can see the wheels are very scuffed (that's true on all of them)

I am going to get them refurbed, do you think black on the alloy parts and leave the chrome inserts to contrast?
