Show Us Your Motors!

I think in reality it will look stupid. It has a stupid name too. And in a line up of SUV's which follow a more level headed design language, I think it will still look stupid. :p

We'll see what happens I guess. I fail to see how it will be approved for any markets given its awful pedestrian safety characteristics etc. I think Musk is having a bit of a breakdown and nobody has noticed. :D

Design something ridiculous and everyone will notice and go crazy over it, just a very intelligent guy who knows how to market his brand with huge success even if the final product looks nothing like the concept, he nailed it proven by the pre-orders. He may get some fall out when final product looks nothing like that or it cannot be sold in certain regions but the end result is he won't care as he would still of done the numbers and be counting his billions. :D

Just worth pointing out Tesla don't do Concepts (so far anyway). They do production designs and that's that, tweaks on the way to make it easier/cheaper to build sure but the Cybertruck will be awfully similar on the road. The whole design is to aid cheap construction and strength.

It’s unsafe and will never be legally sold in the EU. (Nor UK probably )

Yep, he got a lot of people who would never buy a pickup to buy a pickup. It's a pickup for posers.

It's completely impractical to use it as an every day work truck.

I'm hoping it produces a robust (LOL) underlying platform that others will build actual vehicles on top of though - personally I think it looks hateful compared to the range of potential futuristic truck designs they could have gone for and not well designed for actually using if it comes to that.

I suspect you’re probably right, would be cool though wouldn’t it. I think there’s not much market here anyway, they don’t sell the F150 etc here either.

Interestingly some parts of US crash testing are actually much more stringent. For example the US spec 4C is over 100kg heavier with chassis reinforcement and more airbags. So in that way their tests are MORE rigorous than ours, so there must be some hope?

I thought that was that Mercedes thing?
Wasn't that only on sale in South Africa and was basically a Nissan? It's gone the way of the dodo now though thankfully. Hideous thing.

Hopefully. Something that looks like the semi they're building would have been great. This cybertruck is literally for rich folks to say "look at me. cybertruck lol"

They are still selling the X class AFAIK - the only thing going for it is that it at least has a V6 engine option (no idea how good it is) unlike the latest Nissans :( aside from moderate use around a farm I've no idea why anyone would buy a pickup with a 4 pot :( V6 makes it sooo much smoother on the road and nice to have the torque for many pickup duties if you use it proper (though you wouldn't want to use the Mercedes for proper pickup duty).

X-Class was available in the UK but is being discontinued.

I always found it in a bit of an odd place - if you want something that is that nice inside you really want the ride to match it with and as much as they have tweaked it nicely it still falls behind the Amarok in that respect and the Amarok still falls short of the kind of place you'd want to be ride wise if you wanted that nice an interior. It is something I feel my Outlaw does well as you have a good balance it is nice but fairly understated inside.

Trump stopped all the motions to make the federal pedestrian stuff match EU requirements, basically the US tests for a light duty truck are hitting a 100ton wall and small offset barrier tests aswell as other consumer tests that the magazines report out on.

I can see the cyber truck being US market and similar requirements only. EU pedestrian will be near on impossible to meet all the new requirements.
Won't be long for the first law suit to happen then, knowing how lawyer profit led the USA is...

We went for the Outdoor all season one from AutoCovers - it does seem the best one we've had. The previous one was a cheap one and boy could you tell. The wind ripped it to bits and that's on a sheltered and closed drive way. I need one on it as there's a tree above the driveway so leaving it without seems a little dangerous.

Well my Autocovers one has already fallen apart. Stitching holding the rear strap in place came apart overnight, found it flapping around the drive this morning. Now to see how good their warranty is!

On the second storm that we had about 3 weeks go it did come off half the car but to be fair it was mega windy. No problems with any rips at all though.

First track day in the 4C complete .

Held up admirably, but lots of frustrating traffic at times. It's very quick in mid speed corners, but then you get blitzed by hot hatches and the like on the straights. Very annoying if they won't let you pass. Unbelievable how quick these Golf R / RS3 types are, past 90mph or so they are just gone. The blue Focus RS was properly sorted and very very fast, impressive. Ofcourse some chap turned up in a 570S aswell which is just another level. It's not even close to the other 'fast' cars there, just ballistic everywhere.

Great thing about the 4C is the tyres and brakes hold up no problems, my Z4 was nearly on fire after a 15 minute session but the 4C is quite happy!
