A cheeky spot local to me whilst out in the NSX. Love the perfomante but not a fan of matte orange personally. New decklid spoiler fitted to the NSX too:

Looks amazing, the NSX which is not that big of a car somehow manages to my the Perf look like a toy. :D
Agreed do not like the matt colours, they are also a lot more expensive at build stage compared to the far nicer gloss orange.

After c. 10 years of living in apartments and not being able to wash my own car unless I went to a parents etc, today I was able to wash my f36 430i at my own house for the first time !

Pressure washer with snow foam lance etc arrives next week so it was a basic hose + 2 bucket rinse shampoo rinse sealant job:

I was worried the gravel would bog up from the water (after using my in-law's drive which basically became swimming pool after washing!), but it was absolutely fine.

Well, the Mineral Grey LCI 430i GC with 15k miles has gone to WBAC, to make way for something QUITE different! WBAC were offering really strong money (infact, i got £200 more than my dad bought this car for at 6 months old and it's now nearly 3 years old). This was over a grand more than the dealer could get to on part ex.

I loved the 430i GC, the form factor is really fantastic, and a quick sit inside an m4 competition ruled them out (my fiancée is rather vertically challenged, and the single-piece seats in the m4 comp are completely the wrong shape to the point she can't sit even slightly normally!), so I kept my eye out for something else.

I then saw a bizarrely cheap AUC car come up that was actually below trade price for some reason, I managed to get my deposit down within a few minutes of it going on the site. All the history stacks up, and the condition is really fantastic.

So, I present - a mineral grey, LCI 440i with 15k miles. It cost me under £1200 to change, which is a ridiculous bargain, in my view, especially given the better spec and getting some more warranty too!

2018, 15k miles, I'm the second owner. M plus pack with ferric grey 704m (my 430 was orbit grey so they were darker), dynamic pack (active suspension and variable sports steering), oyster interior, harmon kardon, digital cockpit, HUD, high beam assist memory seats etc:

The engine is absolutely amazing (to me), and it is SO much quicker than the paper 0.8 to 60 difference would imply. The digital cockpit and HUD make a huge difference too, feels far more modern, and the oyster interior is really lovely. The car is in extremely good condition, too!

Next step, MPPSK to take it to >360bhp and give it a bit more of an interesting exhaust note :)

Man £1200 to change, what a bargain!

Visited a few dealerships at weekend, their show rooms were empty, they were having to space cars out to make them look full, Ferrari ONLY had only around 10 used cars on site with no new cars on display, an Enzo was been used to take up most of the showroom space.

Porsche used area was nearly empty and the new car area had like one car on display.

Looks like the used and new car shortage might go on for a while longer yet before the bubble pops. Good move, 440i I'd have thought push north of 400 horses when mapped.

I'm still just absolutely confused as to why they listed this for so little, every similar car on the AUC network is a solid £4-5k more and actually selling!

RE remap, yes, aftermarket remaps will easily get it over 400, but I want to maintain the warranty - the m performance power and sound kit is dealer fit and doesn't impact it at all, and this officially takes it to 360. By all accounts it's an absolutely excellent exhaust from a performance PoV (lots of people get this kit and then do an aftermarket remap as it's the best exhaust available). Apparently, they actually push ~380-390 after the remap despite the official figures being 360, and that'd be more than enough. Even then, I'd be weighing up fitting the dealer-fit m performance LSD rather than adding more power...

Picked this up a few months ago just before the massive price hikes in used cars for 19k, Pro Nav model.

Auto ZF box
Pre-PPF
Alpine White
Pro Nav
Heated seats
Cruise control
Xenon lights
Folding mirrors
Adaptive suspension
White leathers
HK speakers
Reverse camera

Added a Rieger diffuser, M Exhaust tips, Spacers 12/15mm and some side decals.

Planning on a stage 1 remap and maybe a gearbox map too next year when the warranty runs out.

Think you got lucky buddy, sometimes a dealership will price a car based on the last one they sold or a quick trade value, they might have also given very little money for it and as such just applied a 20% markup and were happy without checking the rest of market, it happens and you were the guy to jump on it.

The market is pretty insane right now on cars, I am half tempted to list the 458 quite a bit overs due to the rare specification and if someone wishes to take it off my hands I'd be a fool not to let it go as I'd have had a Ferrari for three years and made a few quid out of doing so. Then I can sit back and wait to either grab a potential bargain on something else, or miss out.

The issue is nobody truly knows where the market is going, but if by 2030 if all you can buy is extremely fast milk floats that are boring to drive then of course anything that has fun factor, specialness to it this could just be the start to exploding values on cars.

When Ferrari have SF90's and Pistas sitting around because customers want the older NA cars, kind of says it all and Ferrari make probably the best turbo engines out there, yet people are still not going wild for them, in the last few days I've been looking the amount of Pista I have been offered, but I cannot find a Speciale unless I want to pay silly money, which might be the only option. But it is the whole market, my mate just sold a modern Mini to trade he has had for several years and only lost £400 on it compared to the price they paid nearly new for it, with the money he then went and purchased a bargain like yourself.

There are still quite a lot of nice cars that have not been hit yet by this craziness, but I can see it spreading across all cars potentially. All about timing which is really hard to do.

My sister has a T-Cross and VW are taking it off her hands for more than the price of a new one. While crazy stuff like that is happening it is no surprise the market is going crazy.

I got my car from BMW AUC at trade price, they had traders calling up to buy it so I had to be pretty fast. Weird.

Lovely. Which model is that please? What mods was done to it?
Thanks!

It's an 04 GT.

A few things have been done to it:

18" alloys
Set of ohlins coilovers
Front big brakes
HKS dual exit exhaust system
Retrimmed interior (alcatara etc)
K&N intake
Front splitter
OEM duck "tail" spoiler
Etc :)

Very nice. Being considering one for a while. For some reason I prefer the looks of the AP1 over the later ones......

Love the alloys, which ones please?

AM I correct in saying the GT you have to store your hood in your garage so if caught out in the rain then...................?

They're all ap1 in UK and same 2.0 f20c :) we only got the facelift in 04.. avoid 09 I'd say as they had issues with engines. Probably would've failed by now but you never know.

They're work ultimate kiwami from Japan! Took a while to arrive but they look spot on.

GT came with hardtop from the factory but you do still keep your standard soft top, my hardtop sits in the garage during summer and goes back on during winter. Hardtops these days are getting expensive! People started shipping them out to US as they sell for $5k :o

Cheers. Never knew that about the GT that you still kept the hood! Excluded ever looking at one for that reason lol

Is yours a facelift model then?

Ministry of Sound" LED cluster design :D
These must be one of the first examples of 3D depth style rear light clusters. IMO way ahead of their time back in 2003.

Also couldn't help but appreciate how nice carbon black looks in the morning sun after arriving at a venue yesterday... I have not waxed or claybarred the paint in a couple years now, just wash&wax shampoo until I've got a whole day on my hands but still chuffed with how the paint comes out in good weather even after driving in recent rain and not having time to wash it.

Haha! Yeah, 04 and newer is a facelift.

Different headlights, taillights, interior revised, suspension tuned, different front and rear bumpers, wheels etc.

I think perfect year to buy is around 04-06. As it keeps the facelift bits which I like and also keeps cable throttle, lower tax etc.

Sweet. think i will have to scratch this itch and buy one soon before the prices go sky high!

Were there any "must have" options (or any options at all lol)? What colour blue is yours please? Hard to tell from that pic

Honestly there are very few options on them. Bar optional aero there's nothing else. So front lip, spoiler and spats etc.

Mine is a royal navy blue pearl which changes a lot depending on the light! Yellow, orange and green are the really rare colours on s2k.

Below gives you an idea on how much it changes in different light

Hi there

I went for a 2008 car myself for a couple of reasons, the early cars had very spikey handling, in 2002 it was somewhat improved, in 2004 the cars got the major facelift, 17" wheels and a major suspension update but the effect was a somewhat softening, of the car and as such a lot of S2000 purist complained.

Supposedly the later cars I believe 2008 regained the sharp handling due to re-locating the rear arms on the chassis, details of the changes are out there, S2Ki is one of the best information sources but in short Honda manage to restore the sharpness of the 1999 cars but with the safety of the 2004 cars, in short after eight years they found the perfect balance, plus as added security 2008/2009 cars came with traction/stability control, but alas there are talk that 2009 cars are more prone to engine issues.

Prices are moving upwards, the car I paid 14k for last March is worth circa 18-20k now.

If you want a perfect example then this is a good but over priced purchase:
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12032862

The older and higher mileage you go, the better the cost gets and with the S2000 the real guidance is buy on condition, lots of tatty examples about unfortunately and they are rather rust prone in rear arches so always look out for that.
