And what do you think is wrong with the 2.0 TDI Audi engine?

The 2.0 is 140 BHP with a 9.6 0-60 and 236 Torque

You've answered your own question there. Throw in the noisy clattery engine and shakey vibrations permeating into the cabin to those figures and thats exactly whats wrong with it. All you need then is a healthy coathing of diesel-buyer purchase jusitification (It makes no noise! Its silent! There are no vibrations! It has loads of torque!) and you've summed up everything I dislike about that engine.

Paying a load of money for a premium car and then buying the eco engine is like buying a really nice, expensive suit and wearing a pair of trainers and old vest with it.

The A3 comes with a range of rather nice petrol engines - the 2.0TFSI is particularly good. And they dont shake your fillings out or remind you of a Vectra taxi at the traffic lights, either.

+ S-Line A3 is a pain in the arse and not suitable for the pothole'd, speed bumped roads of today*. Not sure if the MSports etc of the world are the same. Don't notice this problem in the A6 S-Line.

* I own an '08 S-Line A3 Petrol

Not exactly my cars but about 3 months ago my father went from this.

2008 Toyota Avensis D4D 2.2 Diesel Estate.

I quite like the Toyota, but the Audi was an Audi. He had to get rid of it after years of driving after the gaskets went.

Yea, because buying an Avensis is cheaper than a new head gasket on a 1.9 TDI.

No it's more reliable then a 1.9 TDI. Could save some money on head gaskets, no?

Hey,

Thanks for the comments, and they are 18" alloys, Bridgestone tyres...

Yes Macclesfeild Audi for the car, they were very nice peeps, better than Manchester Audi we left their cause of their poor customer service

Mr Fox, thanks for the comments pat on the head and then punch in the gut lol :D It does have the Audi 2.0 TDI Engine in it, doesnt seem to have the same issues that you have talked about talked about, dont get me wrong you can hear the engine a turbo a bit but not shaking in the cabin at all :) a lot better than my 2001 Mondeo 2.0 TDI

Stelly

A head gasket on a 1.9TDI is a once in a lifetime failure.

Number_25 said after the 'gaskets' went. If he does mean more then one, could have been an expensive fix, and his father may have been looking for changing his car anyway?

They seem to pulled out of thin air though, I didnt know the 1.9TDI had multiple head gaskets, what with it being an inline 4 and all

And it's hardly going to have been replaced for one of the more mundane/simple gaskets you might find on an engine.
