Show Us Your Motors!

Fair enough. :)

The advert looks good and that's what made it catch my eye to begin with. What were the things you didn't like about the E92? I know you didn't like the runflats, but that obviously wasn't all there was to it...

E39 M5. Have it for a bit and you can keep the other E39 as well to go about your daily commute if you do any.

At least you can experience what it's like owning an M5.

TBH i think he should just stick with the 530i which he knows inside and outside, is in fine condition, and just focus on saving money for an F10.

The 335i is very much a Sports coupe. The handling is fantastic, the steering is absolutely wonderfully direct, the gearbox is stiff and direct and the performance is absolutely unbeleivable. The exhuast note is hilarously good as well - push the starter and you can hear it growling from quite far away. Therefore, somewhat unsuprisingly, it suits the enthuastic driver very well.

What it doesn't do, however, is waft about like a 5 Series when you are not quite in the mood. This is pretty obvious and I knew this in advance but what I didnt know was just how much more 'me' that was.

I always enjoyed the handling of the 5 Series and on the right road, I enjoyed pressing on in an 'enthuastistic manner'. I guess what I underestimated was just how great the 5 Series was at shrugging off this ability and going back to being a wafty-barge when you wanted it to.

The 3 Series is always ready for the next thrashing - don't get me wrong, it cruises better than most normal cars, but I guess once you've had a 5 Series thats just not enough. The 3 Series is fantastic handling car which can do normal driving pretty well. The 5 Series is a fantastic car for that normal driving but can do handling 'pretty well'. It's about striking a balance, and it seems the E92 strikes the wrong balance for me personally.

I drove about 3-4 335i's and enjoyed them all - and enjoy this one - but you dont 'live' with a car on a test drive, you are too busy being overwhelmed by the obvious postive factors like the fantastic handling and the great performance.

And given that half of my driving is short trips around town where 300bhp is useless, and the other half is up and down the M5, I think I bought the wrong car :D

The answer to 'I cannot afford an F10 535i M Sport'

Has anybody actually bought one of those yet?

Autotrader isn't much help for finding manual petrol 5 series', and that's if you're not picky about spec, trim or engine.

Do you honestly think you'll ever find a modern version of what you want? It looks like you'll have to compromise on either gearbox or fuel type...

I would be happy with an auto F10.

BMW have reintroduced the 530i - slower than a 528i so totally pointless....

....until the market depreciates it like mad for being pointless :)

Im very surprised you're selling it Fox, but it seems logical. Ive also been eyeing up F10's. They just look so good and have had great reviews. Really want to test drive one.

If you buy another Astra, you will get a very stern telling off :p

I know this this :p Don't get me wrong I adore the Monaro VXR it's truley epic. However parts availability and dealer support is dropping and dropping fast. To get most parts now involve searching ebay.aus which is a PITA and importing bits really bumps the cost plus the time the car will be off the road. Plus to make it the car I want will cost around £4000 so with that in mind I'm looking for a car that still has road presence, comfort, toys, noise (when required) and of course chuckability and a good parts and support network in the uk.
