That's only because most owners don't give a damn about their interior condition :p They probably also pay teh local riff raff to wash their car for a fiver once a month :p

No point in wasting all that time washing it when someone can do it for you. ;)

Use it for a few years and get another So why worry, you don't ive in it. :p

But that's just saying "Well I'm only having it for a couple of years, the problem is down to the next owner not me!".

I don't follow that way of doing things :p

Funny that. a lot of people here drive around with plastic on their seats permanently, I wonder who they are doing it for.. the next owner? Or to demonstrate that they have a "new" car.
Because its damn well nasty to sit on a plastic bag in hot weather..

Here as in Dubai.

Sometimes you see the bags (like the garage will put on when working on your car) on an old car too.. quite amusing, who are they kidding? But then again they like putting fur and carpet on their dashboards here.. so I am not sure which is worse.

Oh I don't know. My 166,000 mile, 9 year old, E46 330d had a light grey interior that was in far better condition than any black one I'd seen before or since for a similar age/mileage.

Heck, even my 16 year old, 125,000 mile E36 325i with it's tan leather was in better condition than most black interiors with half the age.

I sat in your 330d at 3 years old and thought 'I need to avoid grey, it doesn't age well'. Was becoming glossy and grubby. I noticed the same when viewing E39s whereas my black one remains in fantastic condition. Looks boring as hell, mind :(

Well I suppose it's 'probably' better than the 14 year old Peugeot with the pink foam steering-wheel cover :p ...curiously there is more than one such combination around here.

Personally I like light interiors better, walnut with 'light' cream leather ...or what Jaguar call barley and more or less what BMW call oyster is my favourite.

A couple more pics before the beast gets sold next week..

yes, "that was quick" I hear you say.. But I got an offer I couldn't refuse (5k more than I paid) and a new car is coming in the next few weeks.

Shame really, as its such a hoot to drive... but I always knew the bills would be immense and as a daily driver with no warranty this was never going to work. Common sense got the better of me in the end lol

What an absolutely stunning car right there <3

An equally awesome replacement, I hope?

Sadly not. Although the Merc is looking and running better than ever now after some work, most of my driving is short journeys around town with a baby in the back so its got to move on to a new owner.
I am adding 2k to the sale price and buying a 2012 Golf GTI full option.. so i'll be down by 8 cylinders and 400 hp lol. But it will be fun nonetheless.
I will enjoy the 5 year warranty and 3 year free service and it'll get me some brownie points with the missus which i'll probably spend on a roadster of some description in due course.

If you have a robust warranty just do it.. such an amazing car that has to be owned at least once. It still looks the business, is extremely comfortable, and when I saw a red CL55 on the motorway yesterday I was transfixed :D

But costs.. OMG.. just have a look how much the basic items will cost you..

Coil pack. a grand!
Cup holder.. 100 quid.
Set of (24) spark plugs for 500 quid I believe.
1 injector, 200 quid

there are just so many things to go wrong, such as the vacuum locks on the doors and boot, the 14 position heated and cooled massage seats.. the car is so complex.

luckily I didn't get into brakes, ABC failures and other items int he 2 months I had the car.. but as I had no warranty I wasn't about to spend all my spare cash on keeping this on the road.

There is a lot of info on these though including how-to's and DIY guides, if you are so inclined it would save you a lot. For example I was reading on Mbworld how to repair the door closing vacuum lock with some adhesive rather than paying 600 quid for a new lock.. because these will go.

Plus if you tune the CL600 it will match the power of the CL65 (which they only made 200 of in 2005/6, btw)

Just to add that I didnt get the chance to make the most out of the COMAND side of things as my Japanese version wasn't compatible in many ways, but you should be able to fit a bluetooth adaptor, have Video in Motion activated, and a few other tricks which are nice to do. It was still a joy to drive though and I have never felt such power, you are literally pinned to the back of your seat under acceleration. I would have kept the car If I had had a warranty or could have afforded to keep it as a garage queen for occasional use. But these days I cant justify that (wife, kid and mortgage comes first) and have no place to work on a car as I like in an apartment block.

I know I wont get a second chance to own as the 65 is so rare, but I am pleased to have had the privilege.

good luck and enjoy, if you choose to go for it :)

You live in a world of almost free petrol and trade your V12 for a 4 pot Golf :(

^ Obviously It was not the petrol that is the issue as a full tank was only 20 quid.
I hardly need a V12 when my work and child's school are about 3 miles from home and I got this car to enjoy for a short time and then to sell on at a profit. Which I am doing successfully.

My priority atm is for a low maintenance daily driver, but no doubt i'll get the itch to add a bigger beast to the stable again soon and I wont rule it out.. I'll just get a warrantied one.
