Paid £860 for my 330i at 22, and paying around £900 (with non-standard exhaust) for my 335i at 23.

Where do you guys get your quotes from? Admiral/Elephant for me are the only people who actually allow me to get fast cars. Everyone else wants £ridiculous.

This, TBH. I was paying less than £1000 for a modded 6L V8 Monaro at 23.

This.

I'd certainly think twice about running a 4.3L V8 and a supercharged MX-5 if it wasn't for Admiral.

I'm with admiral. Like I said I had zero no claims prior to taking my policy out whilst I assume you must have some years no claims to your name.

Direct line insured me on my 325 for £900 at 24 :(

But I'm with Admiral on my M5, simply because Direct Line wouldn't insure me, and I'm still paying a ridiculous amount. Although they were miles cheaper than everyone else, some of my quotes were in the 10's of thousands!!

I was seriously considering getting a Focus ST (mk2 facelift) but Aviva won't cover me :( Insurance doesn't run out till November as well. Bell/Admiral would have covered me for £1000.

So just cancel it and move insurers

But by the time I'd come to buy the car (be a few months into next year) I'd reset that years no claims and loose out on a refund wouldn't I? It wouldn't take me long to save for one, but I don't have the money yet.

Why not cancel now, get a pro rata refund of the 10 remaining months and insure your current car with an insurer who will also cover your next car?

Didn't think of it that way. I could do that. Kinda commiting myself then though. Reason I went with Aviva is because they were cheaper, covered my no claims and excess when hit by an uninsured driver and also protected my no claims for over £100 less than what Bell/Admiral/Elephant could.

First car, £600

Good man :)

I love it when people get stuff like this as a first car, it shuts up the "I had to buy a 1 litre Corsa and then buy bits from Halfords to mod it because I can't afford anything bigger or better" crew.

My first car was a Ford Sierra. 1.8 and RWD while all my friends had tiny snot boxes, and paid twice what I did for insurance :)

My new (old) BMW E36 328i which I picked up yesterday :D

It's got the M50 intake manifold, full scropian exhaust system, coilovers at the front, GAZ shocks at the back and lowering springs, M3 body kit.

The interior has been completely stripped bare, bar the dashboard and two front seats. It's also been fitted with an LSD and a hydraulic handbrake.

No prizes for guessing what I'll be using this for ;)
